The Mugen clutches are my favorite so far. Just being honest, a lot of guys I see are getting rid of their Ascendancy, Werks, etc.... for the stock Mugen clutch. It lasts forever and shoes show no wear after several races. I love how smooth they are but will try M2C soon just to try....

I do have bad news. I finally broke my first A-arm. I got my MBX6r about 10 months ago up until this past weekend I still have the original A-Arms from the kit!!!!!! The RF A-Arm broke sometime this past Saturday right where the shock screws in. Didn't completely break and I have no clue how long I ran this past Saturday with it like that. I was putting on a new set just for the heck of it since they were 10 months old last night and just happen to notice it!!!!! Good timing I guess.......

i run all the Alpha engines, all i run is a 13t clutch bell, clutch and clutch setup just depends on which one i run.

Alphas are great engines, havent had any issues with them. good and reliable.

Why wouldnt you recommend an Alpha?

I run 13T on all my Alphas. Once in a blue moon I will run a 14T if the track is open and flowing with low traction. Other than that.... 13T all the way....

Guys, I saw a picture sometime back where someone had changed the nut aroundon the top plate to make it easier to remove.

Where the upper hinge pin mount (E0177) attaches to the top plate (E0156) the nut was on the top. I thought it was a great idea until I took it apart. I was thinking the mount was threaded and this would make sense. As it is now, I can't see an advantage to putting the nut on the top.

Anyone recall this picture?

Oh, and one more question. How do you guys go about raisng the Ackermann 2mm? Thowing a couple of bushings in there would seem to bind the steering.

Not really sure why he did that, only reason i can think of is that he was changing out the upper pills a lot to find a set up. I use M2C which is threaded and does not need a nut.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a Alpha myself, and a good friend recommended against it. He showed me his Alpha that has a gallon or more and it still had rediculous pinch so much so that you couldn't turn it over. So something isn't right and he had that experience with a lot of them. He used to sell Alpha, but would certainly recommend against them and that was good enough for me. I know there are guys that love them and are happy, but for me there are too many other good choices out there to take a chance with getting lucky and getting a good one. I have had Werks and Nova and haven't had a single issue with either so I'll stay with those. Like I said, get what you want, i'm certainly not trying to start a engine war. I think for the money its hard to beat a Werks, the B2 is a amazing engine and if you screw it up, you're only out 160 bucks. I personally have a B2 and a Nova Bonito. Good luck with whatever you choose

I've been extremely pleased with my REDS engine. Very easy to tune and no flameouts. I'm new to nitro myself and this motor is very forgiving. I've been running Ascendancy clutches which work good. I was about to try the M2C clutch, but I've heard REDS is coming out with a new 4 shoe clutch system so I'm holding out for that.

Yup, I've have Werks, Nova, and Alpha engines. My Werks and Nova broke in after the same amount of fuel at just over a gallon. You know it is broken in when the tune suddenly gets rich, you have to retune, you get more runtime, and the last thing I check is the amount of pinch, but yes the pinch should be significantly less than what you start with. Nothing a little preheating doesn't help with.

The Alpha takes a little longer. Took over 2 gallons for me before it really fired up. Nothing wrong with that.

So far, all 3 engines have worked great for me I get a lot of life out of them. Great power. But the Nova does have the edge on runtime

No, that is not my car. That one belongs to Robert Batlle. I did something similar to his except i do not run the fuel filter and my fuel line does not run around the front body post.
