I won't release what manufacturer made this yet as I don't want to tarnish a good company provided they take care of this, but has anybody ever experienced this or seen this before with any motor. The internals of the motor are fine otherwise this motor has just around a gallon on it.

Is that an RB crank? Looks like it, the red putty, weighted crank flywheel....
Was that the only thing that broke? Con-Rod? Anything else?
If not, then my first thought is probably a structural weakness in that particular piece, cause I've not seen a "modern" crank break like that...

I'm not going to say what kind of motor it is yet I want to give the company a chance to explain what happened and take care of it, but no there was not a thing wrong with it otherwise. I'm sure I could clean it up and throw a new crank in it and go to town, but honestly if I have to BUY a new crank I'll just throw it in the box and write it off.

yes, 3rd or 4th tank in on a Hot Bodies Lightning 26. ran great for the first few tanks. i let it cool off, while i had some lunch. and 1/2 way thru the next tank it just stalled. no compression when i tired to start, so figured i blew a conrod or got it too lean ( wasnt sure how that could be ) and burnt the pistion up. but i was shocked when i opened the motor to find a 2 piece crank shaft.
Hot Bodies was EXCellent and warrenty replaced the whole motor!!!

I have seen this once but there was a rock stuck in the intake port. The guy had lost his air filter & a rock the size of a pincil eraser had jammed between the crank intake port & the bottom of the hole the carb fits in. On yours I would guess the metal they machined the crank out of had a flaw that went undetected. Very unussual no matter what the cause.

I did the same thing to a modded p5 i have seen this on a few others mostly on drilled crank motors sometimes the casting just cant take the reduction of material.

Seen 2 O.S. V01 had that happended, as well as to mine too previously. And they all break at exactly the same area as yours, at the rear end of the intake opening of the crankshaft.
Ours were written-off as they have been through many gallons & the main bearing was also well worn(O.S. has a bad reputation for that with it's standard bearing).

All I can say to this one is OUCH!!! That had to hurt to see that happen to a otherwise perfectly good engine. Well whatever company this is from, I would certainly hope that they would take care of it; and im Sure they will, especially if the company is along the lines of the RB and/or Novarossi calibur.
