Team Associated 1/8 scale Truggy Info and Tips
#4501

Kja812, thanks for the reply. So I thought, that does not make sense to change this model later with my amateur driving. As long as there are parts of it I had it. The model is quite good and strong.
It is a pity that in Poland the company associated team is so not very popular, eg. as compared to the USA.

Does anybody know if axles/CVA shafts from another brand will fit?
#4503

I run 4.6 mgt cvd. They are thicker and stronger. They are longer though, they almost bottom out in the diff output cup but do fit and doesn't limit any suspension. Also the cross pin of the dogbone are longer but nothing a dremel doesn't fix.
#4504

I recently did a search for those - not too intensive, and the price was as bad or worse than the stock AE parts..
#4505

I was getting them for less then 20 for a set of 4 off ebay chop shops when the mgt 4.6 come out.

I still have my RC8T and all the parts(and tires, and engines, and and and...) And I still don’t have spare CVAs. I just looked around and saw that the dang things are still so expensive… Any tips on where to get some cheap ones? I don’t plan to do any serious racing probably ever again, but I have the thing and I’m not going to give it away… Maybe at some point I’ll find a track to run on for an afternoon or whatever.
I did fire it up for several tanks once late this past summer, and the Alpha 23 ran like a dream... I have since moved away from the city and out to the country, so there are more dirt type places to run RC cars. I am more into planes and quads at the moment, but I still have a thing for nitro Offroad…

Or any of you owning rc8t do any upgrade? Something in suspension, diff for example ?
I read all this thread and some upgrade my model, but i thinking about some more upgrades.
I don't want to sold this model and buy new because for in my case, I don't need it (amateur driving).

Are there any E-conversion kits still available out there, or any which will bolt right up? My old racer has been collecting dust for years... Just no time or willingness to race anymore.. Still love nitro, but no time for it...
#4510

Bump.. Ha..
I think I would like to convert it, and run 5S with MT4 G3 tires for maximum silliness...
Still need to find some spare CVA's. I have every conceivable spare otherwise I think.

Herrsavage, did you convert rc8t to electric ? Find cva's ?
#4512

No, never converted to electric. And never found CVAs..
I did take my RC8T out yesterday though, just to see if it works. Amazingly, it did.. The SC8 ran GREAT too(Modded Nosram RS.21RR with 086 pipe..) My RC8T has an Alpha 23 and 0801 pipe... Man I miss the sound and smell of nitro.
I do not however miss the bottomless money pits that cars are. And good god they require a lot of batteries and prepping and all-around attention... Been flying electric foamies for years - so much easier... I'd really like an Aarma Kraton, but then you start thinking about having to stockpile spares, so are like "screw it, just buy a whole second car", and mods, and on and on and on...
I would consider converting my RC8T I guess. Need a conversion kit, the electric stuff, and yeah, CVAs.. What would be the cheapest way to convert? Conversion kit and motor/ESC?
Nothing really beats nitro though for that certain kind of gearhead kick....
My fuel must be at least 5-6 years old. Good ole' Tornado %25... (maybe ARO really does help too....) I think the last time I raced was 2013. All the same fuel lines, gaskets, air filter, diff and shock oils, etc etc... The fuel is the surpise though. I remember reading all the time people saying it was "bad" after like a year... Just more nitro misinformation... (gotta change those bearings, need a new rod, need a modded engine, tuning is rocket science, have to preheat every time, etc etc...)

Well I'm thinking about keeping this. Maybe even picking up an old RC8TE to go with it. Anybody got any new CVA bones? Shipping to the US is possible...
Also, how does the RC8T3 hold up to big MT tires? Thanks... Just planning on messing around - no huge bashing or anything. But I want big MT tires(MT4 G3...)

That’s you savage from savage central man?
#4515

Yes. Some jerk mod way back when banned me though for I don't know what.. Probably saying I didn't need a bunch of overpriced tuning parts or whatever..
I also abandoned Savages years ago (10?) in favor of LST2s. I had a Savage X and compared to the Losi stuff it was just made of butter... Savages got me hooked in RC, but I moved on to better things(IMO).. Been flying mostly the last five years or so. Racing truggies was too expensive, time-consuming, and I didn't like being in the over-serious atmosphere of it all... But I recently have been running some of my old cars again - which I never sold because I didn't want to give them away. And I do love the nitro....
I still have 1x LST2(kinda' ragged out, but the LRP ZR.30X is ripping great..), RC8T(Apha 23 and 0801), SC8(modded Picco P7 with 086 - rips..), RC8B(RB Fire with 2058 - mega..), 1/7 DM-1 nitro, and for electrics and MT4 G3 and a converted Tamiya TRF801XT. I have TONS and TONS of spares for all of the above, plus two top condition backup nitro engines (modded Argus 52 and my main race engine, an RB Fire with 2058 - yeah, a second one.. - ballistic engines.), plus boxes of truggy and buggy tires and on and on and on... Clutches, air filters, shock and diff oils, two starter boxes, spare hump packs, etc etc..
I just ordered some paint to paint up the body of a second Tamiya kit which I will buil and put one of the backup engines in. Need to find some decent cheap used servos and I think I'm good to go. Maybe a receiver...
I think also want a second MT4 G3.. Nice to thrash an electro every once a while, and the MT4 G3 is super reliable..
I'd like an Aarma Kraton, but I am NOT going down the path of getting a new car again. More spares, more hopups... No way...
