After Run oil vs. WD-40
 

What do u guys perfer? Should I run the tank completely dry before doing it and how often should I do it? After every ride, if its going to sit more than a week...

wd-40 should not be used if you have a filled crank. the wd-40 reacts with the silicon and will eat it away. use a good quality after-run oil if anything. i don't do anything but run the fuel out of them and let them sit. it also depends on the fuel you are running. some fuels leave behind a bit more resuide than others.

After run oil for the inside of the engine.WD40 for cleaning the outside of the engine;)

k, thanks, i dont no whether or not my nitro rustler has a filled crank:confused: so after run oil if anything, but its not bad to just let them sit and do nothing?

Yes.
Personally, I can't figure how people got the idea to use WD40 as an after run. I know I wouldn't use it for that, period. I do use it for cleaning a chassis, but not as an ARO. Your best bet is to simply use a specific ARO...or if cost is an issue, you can use Marvel Mystery Oil.

i used both didn't hurt my motor... and on the traxxas dvd it show them useing wd-40 lol ;)

I got the idea of the wd-40 because in my owners manual/cd ity sais it works just as good as after run oil.

I race so often I don't use after run oil unless I'm going to put up a motor for awhile. A good fuel like Byron's %30 leaves my motors safely lubed for a week. No problems in over 3 years.

I guess I should read more...lol. I also don't use any as I race often and currently use Byrons Race 30. But if I let it sit for a while I use MMO.I put MMO in my friend's OS .18 equipped Revo last Oct. It sat on a shelf until very recently...I started using it again maybe a couple weeks ago. After sitting with MMO in it for 6 - 8 months?...it fired right up, almost instantly :) and runs like a clock now :)

I used wd-40 for a long time, works great. The main thing your looking for is to not rust the bearings and crank, wd-40 displaces moisture. I really cant see how a couple drops of after run through the glow plug hole gets to the bearings. I shot the wd-40 in the carb on the box while turning it over after we are done for the day. I use Sidewinder fuel now and the motor looks great inside without after run oil.

traxxas states that in their dvds because they are basic motors and is a simple solution for a new guy. almost every household has wd-40 and its better than having all these rtr monsters sitting around dry.
