What motor
I'm looking for a .21 for an 1/8 scale buggy, I'm looking to keep the price under $300.
The main thing I want is fuel milage around 7 1/2 min. I'm not new so power dosn't scare me but gas milage is more important.
I've been looking around on a-main hobbies and found a couple of motors that I would like some opinions about.
(all standard plug)
go tech 5 port
Hot moded Novarossi N21B 2001 BF 3 port
Novarossi RX21P5XS 5 port
open to any suggestions
p.s. is there a difference bwt standard & turbo plugs?

Well I will comment on my two current motors. I have a P5XS and a Ninja, The p5 has to be tuned perfectly to compete with the ninja when the Ninja is very easy to tune and you will hardly notice it when it is a bad tune, even when the tune is maybe half a turn off it still runs fine, and the P5XS has the be tuned perfectly or it wont run well. So I would recomend the Ninja over the P5 any day. Do you not know what a turbo plug is at all or do you want to know the difference? anyways the difference is that the Turbo seals from a taper and creates a better seal than from the brass washers standard plugs use.

Here is a turbo plug, it seals better and at the bottom and makes a more agressive engine.
and here is a standard plug for you to compare it to.

I am currently running a Jammin 21 and I am loving it. I also Have a V-Spec that I have yet to run but I bought it to try it out because of what I have read about them.

ive been running two .21 race engines, a novarossi P5X for short tracks and a werks B7PRO for long....i love them both...the P5X is very smooth and liner with great fuel run times, and the werks is a mega top end rocket with massive bottom end punch...i got each for under $300 usd....

I forgot to add that my P5XS with ofna 086 pipe gets not nearly as much run time as I would expect from a high end motor, I dont have any times but comparing it to my Ninja with a Dynamite 053 pipe the P5 dosnt come close. I think my Ninja gets like around 9-10 min run time and the P5 probably gets like 7 minutes and not as much run time. By the way I am comparing a 3 gallon old P5XS to a 8 gallon old Ninja B01A. I am way happier with my ninja.

OS V-Spec and OS 2060 pipe combo, is around 10 minutes in race condition. Hard to beat the fuel economy. Just gives up a little on the low end.

O.S. V-Spec. this is the most efficient motor ever made. Why? because it produces alot more power than most engines out there, and it's only a 3 port engine. I've had 5 port and 7 port engines that don't even come close to PRODUCING what the V-spec can. plus O.S makes one of the best carbs out there. this thing holds a tune better than any I've seen. It'LL RUN EVEN WITH A CRAPPY TUNE ON IT!
Plus, alot of sponsored drivers use it for the same reasons I stated above! Best part is that It's only $260, and you could even get it cheaper than that on ebay if you watch for it.

Run time is HUGELY impacted by your pipe choice, keep that in mind when making your decision.

You know I would check www.bmainhobbies.com for motor specials. I am running a RBWS7II with a JP-3 pipe and I get about 10:15 a tank. Check out RB, crazy good fuel mileage.
