i charge mine at either 0.5 amps when at home prior to a race meet. if i am at the track & need to charge i will charge at no more than 1.2 amps.

reasons being, charging the receiver packs at anymore than 1.5 amps will reduce the batterys life & also you will find your milliamps will drop off as well. you will have a faster charge, but your run time out (life for a given charge) will be reduced.

so the higher (amps) you charge at the lower the milliamps (mah)

the lower (amps) you charge at the more milliamps you will put into your battery.

i also cycle my packs each month to keep them fresh as possible.

hope this helps

I'm using the SMC 1400 packs, charrging at 0.5a with a mV drop of 4 per cell.

GUYS, READ THE REST OF IT!!!

The stop drop should be set between 3 and 5mV/cell. Figure out where is best for your battery. Charging at 1 amp occasionally, with a 4mV/cell, my battery will get to about 90*. Any hotter than that in those smaller cells isn't really that great.

You dont want to discharge receiver packs. Been told that by many fast racers.

Charge at 1 amp, 10mv for the pack, 1.5amps if your ina hurry.

Reason you want to charger at a slower amperage verse a higher is one is 2 reasons. Your trying to achieve runtime, not voltage, and receiver packs can get hot if you put anything more then 1.5-2 amps in them.

Receiver pack will also last longer if you dont charge as fast.

Yep, I've blown up two before trying to get voltage in them. I was trying to make my servos perform better. I stay at 1 amp now and 8-10mv.
