Recomend me a Nitro Buggy/truck

new to Nitro and im looking to buy a buggy or a truck, 4wd or 2wd i dont mind, i was looking at this - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDJM0&P=0 - is that any good?

im looking to spend £150 most on a kit/prebuilt ($300 about)

or £200 most on a rtr ($400 about)

Any ideas?

what do you plan on doing? racing or just playing, and where are you going to be doing it?

those Duratrax trucks are decent for just playing in a parking lot or park, they are ok for racing, and wouldn't be very good for a big field with longer grass, becuase for one they are smaller and will get hung up more, and two its 2wd so it will have a harder time with long grass,

hyper 7 .. it's a good buggy...

if your looking for a good all around 1/10 rtr, go with Team Losi xxx-nt2 rtr. comes with a good radio system with good servos. good truck for racing and bashing. does the job really well. comes with a .15 motor tho and most places allow .12 and under but if your getting started, i don't think they'll really care.

for 1/8, hyper 7 rtrs arn't such a bad choice. good buggy for racing and bashing. i like the cen line up too. they come with 144 oz. torgue servos which is nicer than ofna's servos.

1/10 gas truck = losi xxx-nt2
1/18 gas buggy = hyper 7 rtr, cen matrik rtr

for racing and bashing i would look into the hyper7 tq sport...not a bad buggy for the price...

Thanks for the recommendations, i will be using it mainly for bashing on fields and car parks and some dirt/gravel, i want to get into racing eventually but want to try out different styles of driving, right now ive got a tt-01 and a df-02 what i love and a friend who races nitro and electric said nitro is really fun and he let me have ago with his 2wd truck, thought it was really fun so I want to get one myself

Jammin X1-CR RTR great buggy for the money and you can upgrade to the pro or FTE (factory team edition) parts when you start breaking things

losi xxx-nt2 or Associated rc10gt2. losi, i think, has better electronics.

look up the HPI firestorm. i think the thread has been moved, and it contains reviews etc. it is a very underestimated truck.

i would say the truggy class would be the best starting point for a beginner very forgiving class so any rtr truggy, hobby magic have alot of good second hand buggys and truggys ive done well out of joel dr 350 just a suggestion

xxx-ntad2 racer 06-08-2007 04:15 PM

dude, if you want to learn how to drive to race, stay away from the truggies my honest opinion. 1/10 2wd gas truck has to be the best way for throttle control and driveing.

your choice tho.

pitdog 06-08-2007 04:31 PM

that shut me up good advice mate:o

xxx-ntad2 racer 06-08-2007 08:20 PM

pitdog- lol. truggies are forgiving tho. built like a rock. 4wd and fun. either way, your going nitro.

personaly, i can't stop saying 1/10 truck. i know people that quickly buy an 1/8 rig and end up selling it 2 weeks later (same goes for 1/10 but compared to 1/8, it's not as often). also at my track, 1/10 gas truck is the biggest class. you'd probably get more comp. racing 1/10 gas.

tdeal823 06-11-2007 09:17 AM

All classes are fun I have went from elec. buggy and 1/10 truck now I have 1/8 buggy and truggy. If you want to have fun you need to look at what is the biggest or 2nd biggest class at your local track. that will insure you that there will always be someone to..........
race with.
get tips from.
help you.
advise you.
All classes of nitro are a ton of fun. the longer mains is what makes it fun.
