Default v-spec p/s and bearing question

anyone got a line on a good place to get some ceramic bearings for the
v-spec vzb for a reasonable price.. hard to justify that 2 ceramic bearings are worth 60.00...wth?

also looking for a reasonable price for a new piston and sleeve.. 90 bucks on egay a bad price? piston sleeve and con rod?

60 bucks for ceramic bearings is steep. I paid 36 for front and rear at carolinasrc.com. Here are the part numbers

TKOCBMR25414 - TKO Ceramic Rear Engine Bearing 14x25.4x6 V-Spec RB Nova *@ *$22.99

TKOcb607C2rs - TKO Ceramic 7x19x6 Front Engine Bearing (RB, OS, Nova) *@ *$14.99

those are going in an os speed engine which takes the same bearing as the reg vspec. Also check out their p/s/r you may be pleasantly suprised. 90 does not sound bad. I paid more than that for the speed versions. Hope that helps.

Just put both of those bearings in my VZB along with the speed rod and crank.

Couldn't be more impressed with the bearings and the service from TKO.

My VZB is a completly different beast, and it will help me keep my Speed in my bag for when I really need it!!

Top notch in my book. All my engine bearings from here on out will def be TKO Ceramics.

Just popped these guys into my v-spec the other day as well. Feel nice, good price. Can't wait to get everything back together.

BTW, you sure you need a new P/S? Maybe just need a repinch?

If the piston and sleeve are just worn from normal use I can resize it for only $15.00. It will run better as good as new and it can be done 3-4 times on the same motor.

so are you able to tell if it needs a pinch or its shot by pics?

heres the deal:
i bought it off this forum being told it had 2 gallons on it, ive put about 8 tanks of 20% on it, also doing some research 2 gallons is not alot for an os motor.
it was running fine until 2 days ago. not it wont stay running and its spitting fuel out of the carb when im on the throttle. the piston i can push in the sleeve pretty easy and go as far as in the pic and pull it out just the same, but i cant push it all the way through.
i can turn the crank over very easily with 2 fingers. .i posted this on another forum and guy said that it looked like some of the chrome was worn off.. whats your thoughts.

You may be fine with a repinch and replacing your rod, like I did. I don't think your stuff looks much worse than mine did, certainly has more time on it than my 4 gallons.

Check out the pictures at http://www.rayaracing.com/image.htm. He shows a before and after of his work.

If you can push the piston through the sleeve towards the top, then you could use a repinch. You see where the black stops inside the sleeve? That's where it would normally stop.

At the least, I would send your stuff to either RayA or similar and have them look to see if it's salvageable and can use a pinch. If not, you're only out $15-20. If they are, then you saved yourself $100.

better pics of the piston (exhaust side) and head button please.. also is that as far as you can push the piston in the sleeve? don't use force! also u should check the case for cracks along the bottom before you do anything..

I don't see any vertical scarring on the piston it looks ok to me, I have never had a sleeve pinched either. I usually get rid of the engine at the 7 gal mark or drop in a new p/s/r and bearings and then go another 7 gallons.

If you can push the piston beyond where it normally runs it needs a pinch. The biggest problem with that motor is the crank wears a little sonner than most, at 2 gallons it should be fine. Check how much slop there is with the new rod.

everything looks usable, the button looks slightly pitted but it's all good... what fuel do you run? I would consider switching... if you have a caliber mic the crank pin and see whats up,, if it's anymore then 4 thousands out of round then it's a problem..

i run blue thunder race 20%, ive only ran about 8 tanks through it. and those 8 tanks everything was fine. good tune, idled forever, nice top and bottom. then 2 days ago it starter running a bit funny like it was loading up and doing some "run on". so i tuned it a bit but could not change anything. took the motor apart, inspected it ,put a new plug in, cleaned the carb out(suspecting some dirt) its all clean as a whistle,, now i need to hold the throttle open about 1/4 trigger to get it to idle, i pulled the air filter off to see how big the idle gap was and it was open about double what it should be and normal when i let go of the trigger then it dies. the carb was also spitting out fuel while the filter was off, like lots. like spits it 2 feet away.. which im thinkin is not normal

so here i am, a motor that wont tune or run and in pieces , waiting for me to decide what to do
