i wasn't pointing at you directly, nor pointing at this thread, just my experience when a new car comes out by any of the manufacturers. Here's a question that one of the Associated guys could answer for me though, is it going to use the TTR plastic as well? From my experience, thier plastic parts SUCK.....

This is exactly right... I heard the same thing from a very reliable source (inside AE). When we hear from the designers that they are not "reinventing the wheel" or whatever that line was, they speak the truth. And I think this "inside info" seems to agree with what we have been told so far.

This is not to say that it won't have an "AE look" and certain things tweaked or made to look different, or better. But basicly it's a kyosho-based design.

Don't bash if this isn't what you want to hear. Just wait and prove us wrong.

first i have been running a ttr for awhile now and have had no problems with the plastics at all. i do know that their truggy did have troubles and that truck was only rtr though and i think they did at first try a different plastic resign then. next i know directly from of the factory drivers, who is on the team that team ass. has announced to be driving the new rc8, that during the two years of design and development of this car alot was put into the plastic and its make up. just as all of their other cars i am sure that the plastic components won't disappoint.
also on RC10B4.com there is a forum on this car in it and there is a post from the designer of the car just a week or so back. and once again i will say, as from that post and also in talking with the team driver THIS CAR IS NOT A COPY OF SP2. GLASSDOCTOR SEEMS TO BE HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING THIS THROUGH HIS HEAD. HE IS POSTING IN ALOT OF PLACES THIS CAR IS NOTHING MORE THAN A COPY. well that is not the case. since there is only two types of suspension design to this point in 1/8 alot of cars will always look the same. but it won't be like alot of the asian maufacturers cars that are bought by other companies some not even in r/c and being sold under different names.
don't forget in the purchase of team associated by thunder tiger that part of that buyout included that all the top names from AE are to stay in place and design any and all cars under the AE name. if anything in the future you will see thunder tigers that are copies of AE designs not vice versa.

but yes the kyosho's have four shocks, four wheels, two shock towers,a wing, motor, gas tank, brakes, steering, radio gear, receiver box,on/off switch,a-arms(6),turnbuckles,shock springs, spur gear, clutch bell, filter, clutch shoes, bearings, and a body. WELL GUESS WHAT SO WILL THE RC8. SO DOES XRAY,MUGEN,TTR,JAMMIN,TURMOIL,RDLOGICS,KAOS. but everyone has their own special suspension geometry,kick-ups,toe-in settings,anti-squat and the like thats what makes them different so to say any is a copy of the other is very short sighted. of course there is much more that make them all different but from two feet away they all look the same.

I would call any major 'visual' change, the term, Platform Design Change.
I see the 'general' 1/8 scale platform working very well.
I agree with wing nut. Geometry, and tuning characteristics are what the company's 'engineers' are working on. Thats what makes up ALL kind of racing.
Yeah once in a while, some company will try something new and innovative.
A lot of time we all revert back to a little more 'comfortable' product.
One Word---Hydra-drive. Oh wait, thats two but still.

It "was" back in the day, an oil filled, slipper suppliment system.
(say that three times fast)
Bolted on after the slipper on an electric car.
You could adjust engagement by oil weight.
Good for loose tracks and such they used to say.
