Red face

Actually as far as the trucks go, the RTR is not that bad. Just prepare to get servos in short order.
Short of jumping a house, they are the same material as the Roller.
Change the grease to oils. Set the shocks up right and put good servos in and go racing.
The engine is awesome for truck racing.

To the guy talking expensive engines. In racing Truggy we use the engine that comes in the RTR. They are $140 here in the US and we do not get motored. The engine I run is the Sportworks V2 by SH engines. It comes with a full restrictor set and is $129 plus you have to get a backplate at $14.
I would highly suggest this setup for any truck racing on a budget.

the Mach 427 is a decent mill....but aint no Top contender...thats for sure......and the RTR is NOT the same material....differet chassy, towers, shocks, among other things....so i dont know where u get off thinkin the RTR is the same as the Roller.

Thumbs up I think it is a great deal.

The RTR has a 7075 chassis. It is not milled or super hard anodized but it works just fine. Trucks don't bottom out like the buggys do.
The engne could be lower for pull start with a new engine mount. The shock caps are plastic instead of aluminum and the towers are stamped. The body on the truck pretty much will protect everything under it.
The rest of the plastics, driveline and bearings are the same as the Roller.
The ano will get scratched off the chassis anyways.
As far as RTRs go, its pretty close to its racer brother.
Servos are a wash.
The engine can wake up by running a .053 pipe but the stock pipe will do fine.
TX and receivers are pretty good.
NiMh battery in the RX box.
You need $60 worth of parts to make it bullet proof and $20 in race clutch shoes.
Its a pretty good deal in the RTR world.

I would love to try that engine. But I'm trying to keep the engine budget below the $300 dolla' mark.

OS .21 VG, or Novarossi .21BF 3 port, or Mach 427. Since my Mach engine has 13 gallons, it has become a back up engine. When I resleeve I might use it more.

For the Losi truggy it's plenty. These chassis are very efficient at putting the power to the ground and don't seem to need as much horsepower. I race at a local club level and some RC Pro races. I'm not a national caliber driver and don't have the mega power engines. I want to try a high powered engine this year, just to see what it's like in the T. It seems like the T can handle more without getting all out of control. Plus I have the Mach if I feel I need a ton of torque. Just don't use a JP-1 pipe. WAAAY too much bottom end. It's almost uncontrollable. The Mach engine needs a pipe that provides more top end. FYI.
