I have a plus 21-5 in my 8ight. Was at a big two day race last weekend, it wasn't running quite right, so I took it over to the local Novarossi sponsored guy, he fired it up and then promptly told my my crank bearings were about gone. I only have about two gallons through the engine. He said it was common in that engine, is this true? Anydody else have bearing issues with the 21-5? The local hobby shop on site didn't have the right size bearing, so I ended up buying a backup mill, and they will be puting new cermamics in my first engine and sending it to me.

dude the plus 21-5 stock rear bearing absolutely sucks !!!!!! the best bearing i found to replace it with is the boca standard 9 ball 14.5 x 26 !! no slop and has been running killer for 2 gallons now !!! still not a bad idea to have extra engines as not to wear any one of them out too bad !! i have like 4 or 5 extra engines that are all a lil different and all run killer .
see ya at the showdown at the X ,

Thanks Monty. I think Matt is putting TKO cermamics in it for me. He pulled my piston, sleeve, and carb off my old engine and put everything in the new mill so I didn't have to break in the new one. It ran perfect the rest of the weekend.

I had the same issue with my 21-5 at about the 3 gallon mark.
Put TKO ceramics in and good as new.
It now has about 6 gallons on it and runs as strong as ever.

the tko ceramics for the plus engines seem to be sloppy when they are new so i was very hesitant to use em !! might have just been bad batch , but i dont like to take chances !! thats cool that matt did that for ya man . props to matt !!

Well i just stripped my Plus 21-5T down this arvo and sure enough the front bearing seal is gone after 3&1/2 gallons.
The bearings have play in them now so i'll have to replace them both i'm guessing.
I thought i would check them before it got too late and lucky i did or it would have dusted my motor if i kept running it like that.
I was going to get TKO bearings but you think they aren't too good hey?
I have had Boca Bearings before and they shattered after 3 litres or less.
They were ceramic though so i was thinking of going steel again.
Houston the Boca ones you got, what is the part number and how much were they please?
The rest of the motor is perfect luckliy.
I also polished the brass sleeve and the top of the piston to get the black carbon off.
It should go hard once i replace the bearings.
I also have another one of these engines with about less than 2 gallons on it so i'll use it for a few litres then replace the bearings in it.
Next engine i get will be the AXE Rossi Mamba.
They go hard and are $325AU here so excellent value for money.

ya those are the good bearings that i have been happy with in the plus engines !!! crappy bearings are not worth paying any money for . i have never had a problem with any tko bearing except for the 14.5x26 bearings . the boca bearings are great as long as they aren't the ceramic ones !!! good luck bro !!
later , monty

$35US for shipping? I've gotten many quotes from them with a lot more stuff than two bearing and only just got to $30US shipping...

Are you sure that you weren't looking at the Fed EX prices as they are huge. The USPS down the bottom of the shipping prices are much better.

Now i'm in 2 frames of mind about the bearings.
I've had one good set and one bad set of Boca Ceramics.
So i was thinking of going Steel again.
The Stainless ones look pretty good too.
hmmmm... what to do???
