On subject nitro traxxas cars, theres a page on fb where literally every day someone post a pic of a split rod.

I've seen that page. Looking at the designs of Traxxas connecting rods, I can see where the weak points exist, but I still have to wonder what they're doing wrong to fracture connecting rods so often. I have never, in 8 years of running RTR nitro engines, broken a connecting rod. I have to chalk it up to Traxxas marketing their products to casual hobbyists who just want to drive RC cars fast, and aren't looking for the opportunity to develop significant skill in engine tuning.

Traxxas as a first Nitro should be a good start. Its hobby grade stuff like it was stated earlier. If you go thru the right steps, read thru the forums you should be in great shape. I have a Traxxas Jato and Revo Platinum both running 3.3 engines and never really had no issues.. Great start for me. Once you pick which vehicle you like best.. follow your instructions and have fun once you run a few gallons you will end up switching or modding ... have fun...:ha:
