Mayako

Mayako and DR split after 2 years because there was ”emoootional daaamaaaage” (look up the meme)
Mayako invested a lot of money in DR and he got results. Then second year he made a lot of decisions Mayako didn’t like, and that’s why it ultimately ended. Mayako’s attempts to adjust course were no doubt also not appreciated by DR. But results had nothing to do with it.

People are often confident about their own opinions, but it doesn't make them right.
No one can deny the performance of the Mayako, even if it was difficult to get hold of in Blighty.
2021 was still in the aftermath of COVID-19, yet here we are.
I'm probably in a minority, but I like Truggies as well. Maybe one day........

I was mistaken on the facts, my bad. But this is a forum a place of discussion. Instead the creator/designer/ceo of Mayako hops on the forum to correct me and call me out as being ignorant. And in this case I guess he wasn’t wrong, but sometimes there are multiple ways to do something. He could have gone about it a different way.
but to be honest I think this is really a result of the RC racing community having no actual race series that showcases the sport, like RCGP did. Instead we have “big races” scattered throughout the calendar year with no way to truly see how drivers and their cars are doing throughout the season in a championship style against their competitors.
Anyways that’s just my opinion, and JQ told me to shut up, so see ya later. Guess I won’t buy a mayako.

Actually that's a good example. I wouldnt drive an AE rc8b4, if it was given to me, for free. But it has 2 back to back World titles. Although, I'd trip over my feet to join that race team. Theyre always winning, with kinda lame cars.
I just want to see my brand competitive. I don't get why racers put so much weight on the kit in 1st place. Racing is such a crap shoot. Anything can happen. As long as I see the car driving well in the top 20, I'm fine with it.

opinions are like a$$holes, everyone’s got one.

I'm not going to lie, there have been some pretty heated differences of opinion here. Respect to RCTech, who in the most part allow the freedom of speech and consequently, a site where excellent conversations take place.
I agree, there are more ways to get things across but on the other hand, being straight and to the point isn't necessarily a bad thing either. I have had a tendency to be a bit like that myself - and wear my heart on my sleeve.
Even though RCTech has people talking a bunch of different stuff, can we take a moment to appreciate that on this thread - the actual designer of the car took the time to reply numerous times here. Even if he does think we're all a$$ hats!

When you're personally vested and passionate in something and you feel like people are unfairly casting shade - yes - I get why they would come in on smoke!
This thread follows all the twists and turns. I love the idea of owning a Mayako buggy, provided it can be purchased at a reasonable price. I think the personalised chassis is a really nice touch, too.
There were lots of doubts initially, but it's a different story now.

I actually like JQ. I will add tho, that JQ feels Ongaro hasn't won anything significant. Well what qualifies as being a significant race??? 10th scale worlds, maybe not 8th scale but it's still pretty significant considering he is also currently the two time reigning 8th scale champ. He also won the 2023 montpellier GP (considering the names in that race seems pretty significant to me, and finished 3rd in Euros? So where was Ronnefalk in these races, 2023 season. JQ wants to point out that he won euros and finsihed 2nd at worlds. ok that was 2022. No worlds this year, but there was Euros, "DR" as Jq like to say, finished dead last in the main. Montpellier GP, I didn't see his name, but it wouldn't be the first time he missed out on an A main in the 2023 season. So what did he win that was significant, because it seems like a he was a no show for 2023 in 8th scale off road. That's just my view from what I read and watch, maybe there are other significant races with top drivers from all over the world. To call out another driver not winning anything of significance, when your own guy was a no show. lol i had to come back, to hard to keep my mouth shut JQ. I'll listen to the facts but you only presented dated information. Actually Ronnefalk did win some big races. On road, maybe one day they can mend their relationship and build a world championship on road kit.

Drivers always try other brands. I'm wondering whether Ronnefalk was a tad too head strong.
This has been a very good thread and an interesting car.

I'm sure they'd get along fine, if a handshake could make them shoot money out of their arses.
HB would be a good fit for DR. They have an excellent on road car. No idea why they broke up.
