I agree that it doesn't look great, but I believe it's because of how blown out the track is and lack of other cars on the same surface to compare to. How rough a track is in reality can be nearly impossible to judge from a video filmed from that perspective. I don't think it was smart to release that video under those circumstances as the first DR "Testing" video from a marketing standpoint, but if a car works and wins consistently marketing won't really matter anyway.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing more, probably taking a year off from 1/8 but always curious to see what new things shake out.

Having heard from someone who’s seen the track and driven on it, they said the video doesn’t show how bad the track really is. So it’s probably safe to say no car would have looked “good”

Agreed. Typing “RC Rides” into Facebook brings up some pretty interesting pages that are NOT RC related.

this thread is pretty amusing by alot of guys that report alot of things on rctech.. and all they do is talk poop.. i see alot of rctech users all over while racing and most of you are in the c or lower mains at a bigger race but yet at your local track you are top 8.. then we have the guys that just talk poop and dont race at all just bash.. everyone has the right to post but remember to stay within your driving abilities when posting.
as for the car.. track looks blown out and lower grip. yes car looks bouncy but did well for the most part. you can hear it slap a few times over jumps if you really listen to the video. seems to accelerate well in the video but yes there is no other car to compare to.. seems to have too much steering which causes the rear to look loose.. is stiffen up the front and the car gets really good. he was picking the same lines every lap so obviously there was a reason and the car can duplicate it lap after lap..
lets say you get a new car and put a setup in it how fast are you? and no you cant search the internet for a setup.. you have to start from scratch.. how will your car look? would it look like this or way worse? generally it takes a good 6 months to a year to get a grip on what a car likes and doesnt like.. prove me wrong..
so with that said if you are not trying to better this car or thread you probably should not be posting on it. pointing fingers and talking like this from post 431 ( taken from the best buggy 2021 thread somewhere here. I'm with Cain - pics or your full of S#@*) should not be happening since that guy reports alot of similar things on rctech..

Setup is key. I always just ran the box stock setups and had fun. Eventually I did what most people do, copy the “pros” setups. Problem was the cars were never any better and sometimes it performed worse. It wasn’t until I stumbled across Joseph and his YouTube channel and then his book that I really started to understand “why” some setups didn’t work for me. Right now is some of the most fun I’ve had in RC, because I’m learning what changes to make and why to make them, and then seeing that change on the track. This car is as good as any out there I’m sure. There’s no car that will fit “every” driver right out of the box. And to assume a car sucks just because of the designer is narrow minded. Pass judgement on a car after you’ve had it for a year and tested everything. If after that you don’t like the car, all that means is the car isn’t for “you”. Not that it’s a bad design. And I’ll be honest, there’s a lot of adjustment in this car.

Regarding the DR video. During our MPC meeting last night, David commented that he was happy with the car after just 3 days driving it (first day was more shakedown that setup work), and felt that the car was as good as his HB. Given that the HB thrived on this sort of that, and his MX8 is as good after 3 days having not tried all the options, I think that is a good thing. It will obviously not be perfect, as those are the first 3 days that David has driven the car; but to be that comfortable so quickly, we are happy! The comments on the track were that it is like Vegas Worlds, so I think it's safe to say David knows how his car must feel to do well.
