I have an older nitro truck that I want to start using again. The truck has been sitting on a shelf for almost 20 years. What are some of the things I should do to get it running again?

I just did this. I happen to have a stable of old .15 engines and I put an OS CV-15 in it. In my case, the spur gear is chewed up, but still useable. I found a guy on ebay that 3d printed this 52T gear, so I picked one up as a spare.
but off the top of my head, the electronics need to check out. If the AA batteries weren't removed, then that's a mess, so perhaps a new battery box/switch assembly if you can't get it cleaned. same applies to the transmitter. Then on to the servos, make sure they still work and connections are reliable. The engine, if it wasn't properly "mothballed" you'll need to take it apart and clean it. If you opt for a new engine, I think that one requires a long shaft. Mine actually has the tray drilled for a short shaft (maybe they came that way) as well, which is good because that's what I have more of. Carb needs to be cleaned this way too. Make sure all the holes are clean. I clean my old forgotten engines with a denatured alcohol soak, because I hate removing the bearings. After the soak, the bearings should free up if they're still good. Oil all the parts with Marvel Mystery oil. This is what I did anyways, and it worked out well.
