Help a newbie decide what kit to start with...
Hi, I’ve always been interested in rc but I only have small rtr ones before so I’ve never built a kit. With that said, I want to get into nitro buggies and I’ve narrowed it down to Xray Xb8, AE B3.2, Kyosho MP10 and Losi 8ighth X elite. What would you guys suggest is the best one to start with?
*Leaning towards Losi only because that’s the brand of my mini T and it’s been awesome
and also Xray Xb8 since the older versions of this one are the ones I usually see in our local tracks.
*Also, most people prefer Sanwa or something but I already have a Spektrum DX5C
so can I just use this instead?

Xray, Hot Bodies, JQ, Mugen, S Works, are my favorites in order.
Ko Propo or Hitec servos.
Sanwa or Ko radio. You can still use the Spektrum for now.
OS or Protek engines.

The high end transmitters from Sanwa, Futaba en KO have an ultra fast response system but they need also matching servo's but all these transmitters can also work (a bit slower but still fast) with normal servo's. Expensive but for with indor carpet racing very important to get the apex every time you want. With outside racing there is not much a difference beside those 3 top brands are more reliable. Your DX5 will work fine for the moment.....
Regarding the car I would go for something your LHS supports. For sure when you go racing you want to have an adres where you can get parts on time before the next race.

Sanwa\Airtronics are just super reliable radios. I don't care about the speed hype.
I haven't had great luck with their servos though. Except for the tiny SRG for 1/12th scale, that works very nice.

Oh okok, thank you both for helping me. Our local hobby shop carries Xray, Hb, and Ae. Losi is currently out of stock. I’ll read more about Xray since that seems to be my best option🙂.

If they have parts, cool. If they don't, there are plenty of online hobby shops. If you wanna support your LHS, they can order parts for you too.
If you want that car...get it. Only thing I've ever really replaced on the car is arms and just from wear.
I ran JQ for a number of yrs with no LHS supports and managed to do just fine, prior to that Kyosho also with no LHS support.

As a beginner, this information came in handy for me. Thank you very much .. I prefer to listen to the opinions of real people than watch videos on YouTube
