there should be a small collar that would sit against the spring on the brake linkage, you should be able to loosen this off and slide it a few mm closer to the spring. this will improve your brakes.
another option is to get rid of the spring all together and install a piece of fuel tubing that is the same size as the spring. the fuel tubing will have less "give" than the spring and will in return give your stronger braking power.
make sure after you move the collar or use the fuel tubing that when your throttle is in its neutral position, your breaks aren't binding.

The collar on the brakes looks fine + dont think the brake is a problem as its a new machine.
Can this be fixed on the RC transmitter?
Like the breaks work absolutely fine, when I switch the throttle to reverse (R) on the transmitter

Actually you were correct about the two collars!
