Default mid motor stock 22t

Picked up a losi 22t from a racer last night at the Plex. Does anyone run a mid motor set up in a stadium truck? Just wondering how well it would work.

To my knowledge nobody remotely close to here runs a 22t mid motor. Run rear motor

I've thought about trying it, just haven't yet. Give it a shot. If it doesn't work, you can always change it back to rear motor.

Our track is a rear motor track. Save yourself from weeks of frustration and keep it rear motor.

Thanks for the advice. My next question is I have the club Novak system in it now. What other 17.5 setups are there that might be better and where should I go gear wise? I ran a few laps last night with it at a 76/28 and it seemed a little sluggish?

Run the gear Alex said and just get time on the car. Learn how it handles and adjust from there. Also make sure you have some plex friendly tires..without the correct tires you will always fall to the back of the pack

In stock you should set your gearing mainly based on motor temp. I don't like my 1/10th motors to get any hotter than 140F, but many people run them up to 160F. If your motor is coming off after 5 minutes much colder than that, then you can go up on the pinion and down on the spur to gain some speed.

The Novak club system is fine if you're just starting out and trying to get experience, but if you're becoming competitive there are faster 17.5 motors for sure. The Reedy Mach 2 17.5 and the Revtech Killshot 17.5 are going to be much faster. Make sure you're using some quality 12 awg wire as well.

This is just my personal opinion. 70/30 is geared way to high for stock stadium truck. I have mine at like 76/30 I believe. Best thing to do is run the geraing you have for now, and check temps after a few minutes. If it's under 160 run for a few more minutes, if it's still under 160, gear up a tooth or two. Keep doing this until you're satisfied with your speed, or you hit 160, whichever comes first.

As far as mid motor goes, hell, give it a shot. If you don't like it, it doesn't take long to switch it back. Just because someone doesn't like it that way, doesn't mean you won't.

I ran 76/28 in my 22t that Rob Turner now has. I had a thunderpower in it and was plenty fast considering I took 2nd place in summer series with it. Rob has a Tekin in there now with that same gearing and hasn't finished worse than 2nd place with it yet. Hope I didn't just jinx him.
