Smile Losi 8ight-E 3.0 Build

I'm just over half way through the build of my new Lost 8ight-E 3.0!

UPS man ought to be delivering the electronics this week, along with the rest of the non-kit items. Ken McKinney has the body and paint design. Tires and rolling gear ought to be here this week, too.

Should be ready to roll in time for the new winter series at the Plex next week!

Now to spend an afternoon building shocks and watching the NFL...

Nice! Winter series first race is nov 3rd so you still have plenty of time to get it running.

I plan to have the Losi 8ight 3.0 up and running by the first night of 1/8 scale racing on Saturday October 5th. I doubt that the 'wife' will let me race both Friday and Saturday, but we'll see how it goes...

Glad to see you getting back into racing. Not many of us left from the Aksarben/Winner's Circle days.

Cool Viper Electronics Arrived!

My new Viper VTX8 speed control and Viper VSE motor arrived from the great Northwest today! Installed just fine, of course, except that the new Losi 8ight's battery and esc positions have switched since the 2.0 version. The battery is now back and the esc forward, making the standard 200 mm long sensor wire way too short! DOH!

A 280mm sensor wire is on the way. Then maybe I can finally connect everything and see if it works as promised.

Thumbs up Wednesdays Progress

Spektrum servo and receiver plus AMB transponder installed. Viper motor and modified Losi heatsink installed. Shocks built and installed. AKA tires mounted.

Finish up the esc to motor wiring and wait for the extra long motor sensor wire to arrive and it'll be ready to run around the living room this weekend. Spektrum DX3r pro transmitter arrived today, too!

Fit and finish of the kit is ab-so-lutely spectacular. No missing parts, lots of option parts included. After running it through the setup board and double checking the measurements, I'd say we'll be racing within a week!

Thumbs up Mckinney Body

Ken McKinney did an awesome job on the paint, as usual!

Took it out for a test run Friday night at the Plex, and plan a couple more practice sessions this week. Will be ready to race this Saturday!

How is the ESC actually attached to the chassis on the 8IGHT-E 3.0?

Just servo tape alone? No plate or anything to add screws or zip ties or anything?

Servo tape works just fine. Get the the good stuff that Parma makes or even the 3m stuff.
