Pro-20 truck help
I was wondering what motors you guys run in Pro-20. Whats a good motor to use for a balance in performance and battery life. Thx

Most of us will use 8.5's and up. An 8.5 with a 5000mah or more is a good motor battery combo.

ok thx, i was thinking about getting the new associated t4.1 brushless and it comes with a 3300kv or 13.5, but im stuck with the decision on getting that or the slash 4x4, pro 4 is gonna be awesome

The 13.5 is plenty fast for most of the layouts. For anything but godlike drivers the 10.5 is perfect.

I run the 8.5/5000 mah combo. The only issues I had with run time were due to maintenance issues. I dumped one time because I had the timing set to high on my xcelorin, not good. And, another because my rear hub bearings were dirty and seized during the race. Both times I made it within 30 seconds of finishing. All other times made it with plenty to spare. The 8.5 can be a handful on the dry/slick conditions at the Plex on SS days, but sure does come in handy when the layout has big jumps. The key is running something that you can drive. 20 minutes is a long time and very few actually run the whole time. The two times I did not make run time, I had 2+ laps on the field and it really wasn't an issue. If you actually run the whole 20 minutes, a 17.5 (heck even a 21.5) would have landed you a podium finish. The key is just running a steady fast pace. You don't need record, qualifying speed laps for 20 minutes. Just try to maintain lap speeds within a second or 2 of qualifying speeds, at a pace you can run over and over and over again. We were running around 42 laps, which is awesome for for the kind of money we have in these cars/trucks. That's one thing in the past I always complained about; thousands of dollars wrapped up in 18 minutes of actually driving. Now, 20 minute mains give you all the drive time you could ask for! And, that's the real advantage....practice....practice....practice

Big Mama only lets me run in the summers now, especially since were racing for two now.
The new single cell 12th does sound very fun, just need the fundage. After 4 1/2 years of bustin' my butt at my job, they're finally starting to give me some breaks. 2 promotions in the last year have really helped the racing all year cause. Hopefully, in another year or 2 Chaney & I will be able to hit the carpet again. Chaney tells me often how much he misses running the Mini and 12th scale has always been a favorite of mine.

12th is a hoot. Now that I figured out my chassis setup the 13.5 doesn't feel as scary fast as it did at first. As close to mod as possible without breaking every other run.
But if funds are tight, you know there is always a used mini for sale cheap. And those mini's don't seem to care how much wear and slop they have. Always drive the same.
Get your boy one and become a full time crew chief on carpet. I get more excited watching Augie run than running myself.
Many Sundays we have been getting 8 jr minis. Looks like the Plex has a good future. We need 5 more so the newer kids can have a chance at a win in the B.
