for anyone interested, I have some NIP old, old, robinson racing machined 48P spurs in 66 and 68 tooth flavors. There's only two mounting holes other than the diff ball holes so I'm not sure which cars they'll work in, but it might help solve some gearing issues.

Got my first "reward"... a Ford on the podium!!

ok this is kinda weird... I ran two heats with my Cuda body and one heat and the main with my Mustang. I know this isn't terribly scientific but my fast laps with the Cuda was 15.5 in both heats. With the Mustang my fast laps were 15.2 and 15.3. The Cuda setup is only 20 grams heavier than the Mustang. I just thought that was kinda weird. Guess I'll have to get a Camaro and try that out also... if the Chevy guys will let me in since I busted up the all Chevy podiums. Guess it was bound to happen since there were only 2 Chevys.

And my hats off to Tim and Mark... just when I think I can keep close you start clipping off 14.6's and 14.7's.!! Great job! I might have to resort to cheating again!

Was the handling any different? Maybe its where that weight is thats making the difference? Or the traction was coming up that much. Or Fords are just faster than Plymouths and slower than Chevys?

Seeing that many of those racing the Vintage class also qualify as Vintage themselves, I thought some of us here would be interested to hear about Gene Hustings latest project:

http://genehusting.com/dvd_listing.htm

Thats some serious RC history lessons there.

Vintage is not so bad! I have been called a lot worse than that by most of the people I have raced with over the last 20 years or so!

Really didn't feel any different.. and actually I had widened the wheel base on my XXX-S so it looked better on the "Cuda which makes it a little wide for the Stang. Wheels actually rubbed a little on turns with the Mustang. You wouldn't think it would make any difference at all but at least for one day it did. I'm a little superstitious now.

Too bad there isn't any truck bodies for Vintage. I think Mark could use one to carry all his "rewards" around.

A truck body would be cool. When I get rolled over, the "rewards" might fall out of the truck. Oops!

I think that would be against ROAR rules.. weight must stay attached. Oops not ROAR rules... oh well DQ at the weigh in... guess you wouldn't have to add more weight!

Ok is this the place to think out loud? Well I'm gonna anyway! Since we seem to have found several battery/motor combos that can be real close why worry so much about the gearing and go with a breakout. Tim, Mark, and Todd have been the fastest and I think have run 14.6's at the fastest using the 4 cell combo's. So since we know that's about the fastest guys we have running so far why not just do a breakout of 14.5. Let others gear up a little and bring everyone together. I'm not that far off so it really isn't for me but if we had 8 cars that could run a sub 15 lap by gearing up a tooth or two it might make things a little more interesting. Break 14.5 lap and it doesn't count... the cream will still rise to the top because of consistency but maybe the race wouldn't be decided in the first minute. Your thoughts?

Talking wed night vintage class

WOW!!!
What awesome job by Paul Dailey last night showing everyone how its done in the vintage class.
Paul won by a full lap on the field turning 32 laps.
The whole crowd cheered as Paul took the lead and drove away.
Maybe Tim and Z are getting a little vintage themselfs.

Great run Paul you are the MAN!!!!

Thanks man! Big block Ford's finally broke into the winners circle taking 1st and 3rd. Are the Chevys a little overconfident?!?!? I can hear the whining from here! Excuses Excuses.. save it for someone that cares! The Fords will rule Wed night Trans Am!! Nice close lap times though and I enjoyed listening to the battle going on behind me. You guys just keep racing back there!!
