Can someone help me out? I need to go out to the track and get my 10' ladder that has been out there forever. I may still have a key.. I will try that today but if it doesn't work I will need someone to let me in.

Does this club have a website with address, race schedule, and race results?
Or is there any multi day races planned before the nationals?

thnx

I would think that the Fireball race at the end of May would be an option to tune up prior to nationals.

Thoughts?

Also, there was some talk by a few racers who would be interested in running the dirt oval at I-80 on Saturday or Sunday night after the pavement racing.

Hey guys... I have watched a few videos of some dirt oval racing and it is scarry how smooth these tracks were. They were all banked and looked like freshly poored and finished concrete but it looked like clay. I wonder how we could get Lincoln's track to do that. Is there equipment that smooths it out like that. There would almost have to be. I would be willing to help build something cool like a big banked oval if there is still demand for it.

Back when I had the RC track in Fort Collins, we used a garden tractor / 3 wheeler that pulled a section of chain link with a few car tires on it to smooth the track. Then we pulled a water roller used to set sod, and then again with the chain link to put a little loose stuff on top. Watered for 20 - 30 min and then about the same before a car was allowed out on the surface.

We did not have to bring in any dirt, but ours has some clay in it which held it together. Had guys driving in from Kansas every 3-4 weeks, so the surface should have been pretty good.

To keep it good, we had to find a way to keep the water from becoming a pond on any part of the track. Ended up putting a drain pipe in the center and day lighted it down hill from the track. We had our off road in the center of the oval and used the turns for both types of races.
