Thats correct.
The class uses realistic bodies and has a "spec" tire. It fits perfectly between VTA and 13.5 Touring (my opinion). Might be a "cost effective" class.

HMMMMMMMMM....17.5 should be a stepping stone up from Novice.......that way they would be able to start driving a Touring Car with GOOD
tires...
anyone that ran 17.5 last season should have to run 13.5....
that way no sandbaggers looking for WINS........and if someone stays back for that reason after 3 wins we should move them up with the faster guys,,,to13.5
If you were to beat a bunch that have moved up from novice...what have you done??....nothing!..LOL!!
the Club already has 3 spec classes......novice,mini,vta and if they show this year igt.......
we need 17.5 for beginner touring racers......
My 2 cents.......

that is whats wrong with the club it seems if you want to run touring you have to buy a new motor every year. it was 13.5 one year everyone bitched about it so it went to 17.5 and now they want it back to 13.5. everyone has a 17.5 just run em and if enough RACERS show up with 13.5 run the damn class but if not try to keep the classes the same so it easier for a new comer to race. If they came out last season they were told to buy a 17.5 if they wanted to run touring now if you change it to 13.5 they have to drop off $80 to race with everybody else.

Attend the meeting and voice your opinion. If not, you are at the mercy of those that do attend.

I think the more important question you guys should be asking is if all the current 17.5 guys want to run this class or not. Because essentially, that's what you're going to have. Not all the current touring car guys want to run 13.5.
I'm not saying it's a bad class. It looks awesome. (mainly because I think touring car bodies are generic and boring.) But essentially you are setting up a "Run either a spec tire class or buy a new class motor. Or don't bother coming into town."
Man, off road is so much easier.

So classes were picked yesterday after there was nothing on the agenda for it?
Is that what I am reading here?
Why are we entertaining 13.5 anyway? It's not THAT much faster in reality than 17.5 with the way our tracks are designed or the type of surface we race on.

From what I have learned over the years, it doesn't hurt to offer classes, but make sure that there are set minimum entry level numbers established in order to run them (like minimum 5 racers to run a class). This way, you can monitor numbers of entries and if there aren't enough numbers to justify continuing the class, it can be dropped/replaced the following year.
