Stampede 4x4 Velineon on Slash 4x4 chassis
I recently purchased a used stampede 4x4 with the velineon system and the previous owner had swapped the chassis for a slash 4x4. I just put a brand new motor in, put on some new aftermarket parts and new bearings where needed.
I tightened down the slipper clutch a little and am happy with the speed / power it currently has on 2s lipo's.
What I'm sad about is, it doesn't even attempt to do a wheelie. Is this due to the longer chassis? I'm trying on the road, so it's not slipping in dirt.
I have checked that it's in sport 100% Fwd and 100% Backwards mode.
I know the batteries are full and fresh (tried 5 different 2s lipo's)
It's not a HUGE deal, just wondering if there's something I'm missing to get more power. I do not know the pinion / spur setup. I do believe I saw the spur is 54T but forgot to check the pinion.

2s won't get you any wheelies.

Gotcha.
I was used to my buddy's 2WD Bigfoot (Stampede) brushed and with my 2s lipo's I was pulling wheelies all day. I guess the heavier 4x4 needs the 3s?

2wds do wheelies a lot easier than 4wds because of the weight bias. A 3s will get you lots of wheelies on a 4wd. If you don't want to go up in voltage, you can gear down for more torque.

my 4x4 stampede vxl wheelies like crazy on 2s. Slipper might have to go tighter, or try a different set of tires with better grip. Could be your gearing though. How are your motor temps? My stampede will do standing backflips on 3s. I stay away from the 3s packs though because I seem to break something every time i run one. You could always swap back to the stampede chassis as well.

I'm going to have to agree with this. You could adjust gearing to give it more acceleration but you'll lose a whole bunch of top speed to get enough acceleration to do wheelies. Slash 4x4 is a long chassis, even with only 1/10 MT tires there's just not enough power on 2s to lift the front wheels off the ground. Not with the stock Velineon motor, maybe with a bigger motor that'll produce more power on the same voltage.

Stampedes are wheelie machines... like many MT chassis trucks. 4x4 short course trucks are not wheelie machines... unless specifically geared and setup for wheelies.

I thought that Stampedes were basically a Slash with slightly different chassis, bumpers and higher body mounts and a higher torque gearing?
I thought this since the front and rear diff assemblies are identical, including the differential mounting to chassis frames (Non LGC version). Only driveline differences are the stock pinion (Stampede's 11T, vs Slash's 14T) which is a huge torque difference (27% increase)...

Ahh. My bad. Different wheelbase...

My cousin's stock, brushed, 2WD stampede will wheelie with the stock nickel battery on the right surface.

I checked my pinion today and it's an 11T. I tightened The slipper, I'm thinking it's The longer slash chassis preventing my wheelies, if your same gearing gets you wheelies.
I didn't like The look of The shorter chassis now that I've seen the MT on the slash. Maybe I can get a bigger spur gear, we Will see.
Sorry for odd caps, my phone is acting weird.

The high gear ratio = more torque, less top end.
The Stampede's higher center of gravity and shorter wheelbase = far more likely to wheelie. Especially compared with a LCG Slash...
More grip would mean more wheelies as initial wheel torque is through the rear axle where more mass is.
Stampede:
Wheelbase: 10.83"
Mass: 90oz w/o battery
Chassis Style: Same as Slash HCG
Tires: 2.8"
Drive Ratio out of box: 13.97
Slash 4x4:
Wheelbase: 12.75"
Mass: 93oz w/o battery
Chassis Style: HCG or LCG (1" lower for most electronics and motor)
Tires: 2.2"
Drive Ratio out of box: 11.82
So slash is longer, , larger wheelbase, heavier, and has a lower CofG which makes it much harder to wheelie...

I started out with a slash 4X4. Went to a stampede chassis, then back to the slash. I didn't like the shorter wheelbase......tipped over too easily. The longer wheelbase Slash is more stable and fun to drive. I don't care about wheelies, more about performance.
To the OP, what motor do you have?
3s for wheelies or buy a 2wd.

I run 2s lipo's as well. I already had 5 of them from my buggys, I'm not looking to switch over to 3s right now.
Suggestions on an upgrade for esc / motor?

I have the Velineon 3500. I'm actually looking to see what other options are out there. Not so much for wheelies now, but, to make bigger jumps @ the track.
