Where do you find used RCs? I don't see much on ebay.

You can find them here too. Just don't try the search bar because for some reason RCtech's search function is just horrible.

Mainly eBay though.

What did you search under on eBay? I just tried "Traxxas used" and had 2,500 listings.

"Arrma used" showed 96 listings

I really don't understand this statement. Racing usually puts way more wear and tear on a vehicle than "normal" bashing. Yes I know some people like to launch on to concrete, with those few instances being the exception. These race vehicles HAVE to be durable in order to last. They have CNC machined aluminum chassis/shock towers/shocks/motor mount, CNC machined hardened steel differentials/driveshafts/outdrives, very thick plastic arms/suspension/gear boxes, chassis braces, and on and on. Most RTR vehicles do not have any of this, especially not Traxxas. Having a low center of gravity, why would you not want this? Do you want poor handling and a truck that flips over all the time? If you want more ground clearance, you just put huge monster truck tires on it, it's that simple. The level of engineering and design is so far apart they're just not comparible at all. Every single piece on the truck is beefy and is designed to be durable and is designed to be easy to work on. There's a reason why there's almost no aftermarket support for Teknos, it's because they don't need any. Pictures are one thing but if you were able to hold these two in your hands side by side, it's like night and day.

Again, not that you cannot use a Tekno as a basher, you can use a R/C for whatever you want. I was simply stating a fact that its primary design is as a pure racer. Its higher end components are meant to be both light weight and rigid at the same time for better racing performance. Some parts such as molded carbon can be brittle. Harder materials tend to snap, rather than flex such as most plastics on a basher. This will add to the repair costs when you do break it. The same can be said for RTR bashers, You would not show up to a state race with a Traxxas Erevo and enter the Truggy class with it, it would get badly beat. None of the R/C's on the market are 100% bullet proof. Is the Tekno a far superior kit? Yes it is. But if you do not want to build, and simply bash, there is nothing wrong with a HPI, Traxxas, Arrma RTR. The ultimate value of the kit is up to the one purchasing the R/C.

There is a RC for sale section on this site. There are always some roller kit cars for sale. The cars that look to be in good shape from Tekno, Losi etc go fast.

For a specific brand, look for the buy/sell groups on Facebook.

You need to take into consideration upgrades and replacement parts as well. if you bash hard then there are no stock RCs that will hold up, and traxxas is not good value these days if you run 6s. Not only does the traxxas vehicles not have a proper 1/8 scale driveline, they also dont have metal geared servos or center diff or anything like that. Tekno MT is the best kit to get because it has proper 1/8 scale components ready for 6s bashing. Possibly Arrma as well but they come ready built.

I have heard good reviews about the new 8s x-maxx but that truck is alot bigger. You can't compare a 1/8 scale truck with a 1/5th scale. Decide what scale you want first and how much you intend to mod it.

As far as tekno vs HPI and traxxas. The tekno will hold up much better in stock form since many users regard the tekno as nearly bullet proof, a status that traxxas and hpi vehicles are not even close to (in stock form). There really is no high value traxxas or hpi truck on the market that is suitable for 6s, the revo is even worse since it doesn't even have the upgrade capabilities the e-maxx has. And the hpi savage xl, well is outdated as well.

Tekno and Arrma is where the value is, both in terms of money and durability. I personaly don't like stock trucks so I wouldn't choose any of them, but that is me ;) . Hehe.

I own an MT410 and EB48.3 and own/have owned a t-maxx, e-maxx, stampede, rustler, and stampede 4x4. The teknos will take way more abuse and way harder crashes than the traxxases (traxxi?). The only negative on the teknos is that with 6+ inch tires you need to use pretty low kV motors for bashing since they're geared fairly high (I'm having good results with a 1250 kV goolRC 4092 and trenchers on the MT410, I'd recommend lighter tires just to be easier on the electronics), and the MT410 destroys it's body mounts and bodies (I recommend ultimate RC bodies as a solution to this).
