Thunder Tiger e-MTA G2, MT-4 G3, losi xxl2e, hpi xl flux or Nero?

I'm on the hunt for a 1:8 rtr, the losi seems to be the best option

What are your experiences?

Herrsavage 06-14-2017 05:35 AM

Kraton.

I have a Kraton, Losi XXL2e, Savage Flux, and a Nero. The truck that I always go back to is the Losi. You can't go wrong with the Savage flux either. If you go ARRMA, i would look at the Kraton or Outcast.

Losi XXL2 E gets my vote. imo built like a monster truck should be, very tough, and great parts support. I've owned the mt4 g3 and enjoyed it as well but not as much as the Losi. I've never owned anything from aarma so no comments there.
Good luck on your decision.

I live almost in the middle of the forest so I need quite a bit of ground clearance.

I'll probably go with the losi or the savage

It's not my name XD

Ground clearance is overrated. The Kraton will do everything any "MT" like a Losi or Savage will do, and more. And faster. And cheaper. And easier to fix.

I love my nitro LST2's, but for electric, truggy all day long. Here in Europe, the E-LST costs €800, the Kraton about €500. No-brainer at those prices. If they were much closer, maybe. But still, the Kraton will be lighter, more agile, vastly easier to work on, more versatile in that you can run it on a track, and on and on.

And as for ground clearance, a truggy like the Kraton will go over anything a Savage or LST will. All day long. And faster..

I agree with Herrsavage that kraton will slide over anything that would get hung up in any of those other trucks.... I own both and love my Losi but the kraton is hard to beat for durability and fun.. Depends on what you want.. Kraton is super fast and handles great.. Losi is more monster truckish and does wheelies for days.. You can't go wrong with either of them..Ive owned many savage flux's converted to xl's and as fun as they were I would never go that route again.. They're tuff but handle like crap compared to anything else on your list....I've owned the nero with diff brain and was very dissapointed in how much it broke.. They fixed most of its issues in the big rock version and is worth the extra 100....

I've owned all except the Nero and I still lean towards the XXL. You'll find so many threads on this same topic, all of them are good trucks and in many ways just different. You'd love the Kraton, you'd love the Losi... Just pull the trigger on one and then buy the other one the next week :)

Big Rock

Big Rock which is a vote for Nero.

Sante_Caserio 06-16-2017 01:44 AM

I'm going for the xxl

kcaz25 06-16-2017 09:22 AM

One thing about the xxl rtr is the batteries are too far back resulting in less than ideal steering and too many wheelies resulting in slower take off. There is at least conversion kit that moves the batteries.

Apparently you can move the battery tray to the front like this guy and cut it.
