Has anyone run the stock ESC with the Hitec D845WP? Or do I need a BEC???

Love this thing, handles sweet as for something so big!
The stock servo horn fits the D845 and it also operates on 6 to 8.4V. When I had the stock ESC I had the BEC set to 6.0V (40kg) when I put in the Max5 I set that to 7.4V to get the full 50kg of torque. On 8.4V it would probably be more like 60kg. Hobbies Direct have them for $157

I got one of these and it's massive. My first 1/5 scale. I took the front/center/rear diffs apart, takes quite a bit of time. And easier if you have a small power drill and other tools. All 3 diffs were under filled from the factory (about 1/2 filled), so I just topped them off with the factory weights 30k/50k/30k. I opened up the shocks and checked the oil as well and those were good, but I changed the rears to 50wt as I run a single 6s 5000 pack (already have these from helicopters) in the rear tray. Youtube showed someone jumping and cracking the body panels; I took them off and taped the backside with packing tape to reinforce.

Most videos show it being nose heavy during jumps so having just one single battery in the rear seems to be helping. But only had a few runs so far. This thing looks so good. Got it over the xmaxx for the scale looks, takes off without wheelies (have a rustler vxl for that), and not going to be doing big air jumps. And over the associated nomad b/c I didn't have 4s packs and wanted to see what 1/5 is all about. I also used page 9 of the manual to adjust the endpoints/travel limit with the stock controller to make it turn better.

This thing is massive! Got this and a xmaxx as they’re both different in their ways

It is large and heavy. It handles real well though. Xmaxx and dbxle are a great combo to have as each one excels in different areas

Gavsta how is your upgraded combo travelling? I did buy the Gensace 4S batteries and a Hitec servo, very happy with the results.

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been here for a while.

I ended up getting the GensAce 7000mah 4S lipos, the power hungry Leo rips through 5000mah in no time.

I'll be installing a Flier 250amp 12S ESC and Leopard v2 58113 700kv soon. I'll be running 10S to start, if temps are ok then I'll try 12S

Ok boys, I've got the Flier ESC in place where it will sit, just need to get soldering. The Leo motor is installed, a big beast of a thing

I made a cutout in the drivers cockpit for the ESC, I wasn't going to remove it as it's one of things I like about the DBXLe. So it will have plenty of ventilation anyway

I've also mounted the Losi 5iveB dual servo mount from my kit as I have the alloy one in that. I'll be running 2x Savox 0236's

Ok everything's soldered and installed. I've taken it for a quick run out on the street on 8S for a quick test as I haven't soldered the Castle connectors to my 6S packs yet.
The ESC needs some tuning, the brakes are very powerful and touchy so I'll have to turn them right down.

So the new setup is

Flier 250amp 12S ESC (OPTO)
Leopard v2 58113 700kv with 14T pinion
2x Savox 0238mg servos
Castle BEC Pro set to 7V
4S and 6S NXE 5400mah 60C lipos for 10S

I got good speed and power on 8S, so I might just put my Max5 back in, gear it right up as it's only a 700kv motor, and use the Flier ESC in my newly purchased Kraken Vekta.5 LSE kit on 12S with the Leopard 58113 530kv

She rips alright an extra 4000rpm compared to stock on 8S with a truck load of power. These new v2 Leopard 58113's have 8000w of power compared to the 58110's with 7500w.
I'm running a 14T pinion but I can easily gear it up to 16T+, the motor and esc barely get warm

Is anyone running the high speed gearing 14/48 with stock motor on 8S?
What temps are you getting, off road bashing not on road high speed runs

FID now have a complete split centre diff mount, or you can buy the components separately. The motor mount has a built in heatsink, and a more "conventional" 2 bolt mount setup
They also have chassis braces and the front top plate available now, which cab be bought as a set or separately

Chassis braces for the DBXL actually pull the front and rear ends in slightly (as I worked out) as they are shorter, making the holes on the front body posts not line up by a mile....a good 5mm anyway
As far as I'm aware, Losi were the only company to make DBXLe specific braces

I've ordered the centre diff mount for my new revised build with a TP 5670 720kv. Watch this space lol

Got the FID centre diff mount today. I've gone and bought a tried a trusted Leopard 58113 700kv to put in this now. I tried the TP 5670 720kv and temps were too high for my liking
It seems you need a TP 58xx (5870 at least) series motor for these heavier 1/5 rigs, but when comparing the TP 670kv to the Leo 700kv, the Leo draws 70amp less. Leo all the way

I put the TP 5670 in my XBe now, just fit in the stock forward mount position. This thing will be a rocket at 16/44 gearing
