Help with unknown air filter

I'm not familiar with the metal screen type air filters. Should I cover it with oiled foam?

No, get rid of it, is this a K&N style filter? If so, its more for show than go.Get a proper 1/8 buggy airfilter or universal one like from OS, or Ofna, Losi etc.

Is this on your MT, the bigges issue, ensure the area around the carb boot is clean, remove it, take your finger or a clean white cloth and check the inside of the airfilter boot for debris. If youfn some, chances are they were also ingested by your motor.

I'm not sure who makes it but it has a metal screen. The middle part pushes in like it is spring loaded so I assume it is supposed to do that when it is dirty and stop the motor, but that is a guessl

No and I can't link to pictures since I am new here.
It is not the k&n style so more similar to the other one but no aluminum case. It is wire mesh on all sides except for the connection.

New Large Savage RC Air Filter - Motor Saver Filters ?

Savagewheeler 03-17-2017 02:42 PM

I think that is basically the same except mine has screen on the top end instead of the cap and clip. Maybe I have an older model motorsaver.
So should I run this with a pre-filter or replace the whole thing?
