Emaxx Slipper Clutch Break In
Hey guys just got a new brushless e-maxx and was wondering about this so called slipper clutch break in, is it really necessary? I have never owned a model where it tells you to do this. I have always looked at the slipper more or less for jumping in a way just to absorb the landing with throttle. If anyone can give me some insight on this that would be great thank you.

I cannot believe no one has commented on this thread, just like on traxxas community I can't get anyone to give me any info. I guess I will give traxxas a call and see what they say.

Traxxas is going to tell you to do it, that's why they put it in the manual. Traxxas slipper clutches have never been all that great, the adjustment is not very fine making it easy to set it too loose or too tight. I've never experienced any Traxxas newer than the 3905, but if they say this helps then I'd do it. Makes sense, clutches and brakes need to bed the pad marterial into the metal surface for consistent operation, why not slipper clutches.

No need to break in just be sure it's adjusted properly and let it rip.
Now many will tighten it to where there is no slip and destroy diffs every other run.
I suggest you loosen it until the truck has a hard time even moving, then tighten it a quarter turn at a time until it barely pulls a wheelie. This will help save those stock diffs from self destruction. Shimming the diffs is also highly recommended for a how to on that, well, youtube is your friend. If you can't find it there let us know we can help.
No, this is not like Traxxas forums, people here are willing to help with great tried and true methods without the interference of meddling moderators.

Agree ....its there to keep from tearing up the diffs just keep an eye on it once it slips too much it will glaze up and then its over.
Have to sand the pads and start over.
