Best Shock setup e-maxx brushless
I have an emaxx brushless and I'm thinking about getting some different shock springs and shocks. I'm probably going to stay with the stock e-maxx shocks, but I would like to know what you guys run for springs and preload spacers. I might even consider getting all new shocks. Any help would be appreciated.

For stock shocks I would recommend these springs..
The VGR springs are 12Lb and very stiff good for a jumper but would only use four of these and four of the RC Raven springs http://www.vgracing.com/product/T-E_Maxx_Springs.html The Rc Raven springs are a progressive 3/7 Lb spring very good all around spring 8 would work great http://www.rcraveninc.com/category/t...alratesprings/ Preload spacers, all they do is change your ride height. I won't use them but, I do run towers that offer much more adjustability the stock or RPM. For Shocks buggy shocks work great with a maximum length of 115mm eye to eye. I have a set of the HOBAO #87391 on one of my trucks and they work great combined with a set of UE springs. http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ml?id=cwXSZ6Wf Now some people will go on about this seller, on how they sell crappy parts blah blah blah. Have run a set of these shocks for year now with no problems what so ever. Those shocks have had the poop beat out of them and still working fine. One thing though, you will need to replace the junk o-ring that seals the top with OFN27049 bladder to seal them up. Those bladders are just a little big but they will go in and seal fine with no mods to the seal. I personly run the stock shocks, but I have them upgraded with alloy shock caps and Tin shafts, and that cost around 65 dollars alone, which is quite expensive. I also run thicker shock oil. The weakspot are the stock springs. I want mine pretty stiff for jumping and no sagging, so I used alot of preload spacers. In reality, it is cheaper to get new springs than getting a few kits of spacers which cost 5 dollars alone, but I hade some spares I could use. The ultrashocks are not bad, but since the e maxx use 8 of them you are looking at 65 dollars minimum to make them more durable.
A more wise choice would be to get all new shocks from beginning, but since I already bought the shock caps I continiued to upgrade them. Even if you get new springs and new shock oil, you still have the issue with weak shock shafts on the ultrashocks. Big bores cost around 60 dollars and are alloy body and they have the Tin shafts as stock. But you still have to get new springs and new oil for them since stock oil and springs are bad. But you also have the annoying issue with the bladders on the traxxas shocks. If you tighten the cap too much the ruin the bladder and shocks will leak, if you tight it too loose, then they will leak anyways. I had to redo all 8 shocks and clean the cap and shock bodies of excessive oil in order to get a leak free seal between the shock body and the bladders. |

Traxxas shocks are 105mm and restrict the suspension travel by a good 10 or maybe even 12 mm. Which results in rod ends being pulled off and caps popping. I can see a good set of springs to get you by until one of the shock shafts bend. Then replace all the shocks with a buggy/truggy shock like I said in my previous post. |
I took your advice mudbug. My stock shocks are really bouncy and worn out, so i decided to buy a new set online from ebay, and I also bought the Raven Dual Rate 3/7 shock springs. I bought Team Losi Racing 40wt oil for them as well, so hopefully this will make a difference.
