Default Custom Kyosho dbx.

Was wondering if anyone has tried using a gearbox for centre diff only because a guy with the original center diff kept on blowing them.

First you need to define "blowing the diff". Are you just stripping the spur gear or are the spider gears and diff cup failing? Stripping the spur is usually a gear mesh related problem. Don't know if there are aftermarket spur gears available for the dbx if the stock ones are just weak.

If the spider gears and diff cup are the problem there's no reason to switch to a transmission. Simply take a new center diff, open it up and fill with silly putty. You now have a locked diff, just like a transmission would be, and being locked the spider gears won't move, strip, or do anything to the diff cup. Way easier than trying to mount a transmission or trying to figure out a spool and it's reversible.
