Servos?
 

I have a team asociated 8.0 mgt monster truck(nitro). The steering servo needs to be replaced.The Original unit(s2008MG) is $125 . I'm wondering if I'm able to swap in an equivalent unit(like a s1903MG,only $10)or is the steering servo that different from other servos? Any info would be helpful. I'm going to call "Team Asociated"and ask them too.

First, welcome on the forum!
The steering servo is just a servo, no special things to it.
There are different sizes, you will need the standard size servo, used in 1:10th scale cars, 1:8th scale cars, helis etc.
The servo you linked ( s1903MG ) is not strong enough for the steering.
You can use other brands to, like Savox, Hitec etc.
If you want to keep an Ace servo, the DS1015 should be a good one.
So any standard size servo with more then about 15kg should be fine.

If you were looking for a decent servo for a monster truck you should check the torque rating because the extra torque will be needed for swinging the big wheels side to side.

I just picked up this savox, I choose it because it has a decent torque rating, metal gears, digital, and it's already waterproof.

You can spend big bucks on a servo that meets the requirements you have, or you can spend just a few dollars.
I have been comparing the Hitec7954 and the Solar D772 in two almost identical trucks. With both servos putting out right at 400 oz of torque and the speed of each is also very close.
Well the Hitec at over $80 has no noticeable differences while driving than the Solar with a price tag of less than $30.
Both of these servos have survived some real ugly crashes and, they do the job of turning both of the near 11Lb trucks. The only real difference I see besides the savings of $50+/- is, the Hitec has a prettier case.
Now don't take me wrong Hitec's have been my go to servos for quite sometime. Great quality, Great product. The Solar has taken the abuse for the last several months like a champ. So much so that my Summit even now sports a single Solar D772.

Both of my 1/8 Brushless MT's have had Savox 1256TG's in them from day 1. Both single servo setups.

Fantastic servos. I've dunked them, drowned them in mud, blasted through snow, and smashed into just about everything without so much as a hiccup.

1256 and the 1258 Savox rock...comes down to speed with these two

BIG servos.
 

The Savox is a brute,but it's a battery hog.
Pay attention to your steering linkage.

If you don't want to spend that much money on a servo just browse the eBay. I have MG 958 Tower pro on my GT rated at 20kg (200 oz/in) of torque in .13/.17 sec. at 6V. They cost like 11 bucks a piece. It's more than enough to turn that Monster wheel..

Powerful servo,cheap.
