CAP PACK QUESTION
 

Hello, Just got the Castle Creations Cap Pack. will be Mounted on Mamba XL2 ESC

I see the instructions on how to solder it as close as possible to the ESC,

If I mount it a little sideways ,say the negative is closer to the ESC than the positive side, ( so I can bend the wires with it "L" shape )

basically have the positive side soldered about 2 inches away from the ESC and the negative side soldered as close as possible

will that be a problem? will that defeats its purpose?

I honestly don't know the answer to that question. But if it was me I wouldn't mount the esc that way. Instead I'd mount it diagonally across the rear shelf with the motor wires towards the shock tower. Have the motor wires make a u turn along the right side of the esc, secure them to your esc shelf if need be. Offset the cap pack just a tad so the battery wires head straight to the front towards the battery leads. The esc isn't square to the chassis and not quite as pretty but more protected and functional.

Also that Lexan looks pretty thin in your other thread. It's not soda bottle or rc body thin is it? If so it's going to flex too much, rattling the esc more than a more solid mount. Also Lexan that thin tends to tear. I'd recommend getting some 1/8 thick Lexan sheet, under $20 at Home Depot for sheet that's about 10x18. With that thickness you might not need to support the overhang at all.

Just reread your post. I haven't tried diagonal. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to lines lol

I will give that a try and see. Like I said on the other thread. Maybe the elst Xxl receiver mount will work.

Regarding the cap pack. Hope someone here shed some input. Anyone?

Got an email from castle. They said they have to be the same Lenght on both sides.
