Cool Traxxas X-Maxx

New vehicle from Traxxas.

https://traxxas.com/products/landing/X-Maxx/

Looks absolutely massive! All new from the looks of it as well. Need to see that self righting feature in person.

Looks like it's 2x 3S lipo out of the box with a 1600kv motor. New from the ground up!

Its about time. With the success of a completely new car of the XO-1, Traxxas really needed this in their lineup. You can only make so many versions of the Maxx,Revo,Slash lineup for so long.

A nice welcome to the fun factor of RC I would say

Maybe this will allow them to jump into the gas engine category soon.

It's about time they come out with a new design. People are tired of seeing version A, B, and C of the same truck. This truck has some cool features.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Traxxas and 21 lbs. of weight is the differentials will explode. Hopefully that's not the case and they're made out of high quality hardened steel. They are a lot larger so that's good.

Steel inserts in the diff cup is good.

I almost got excited when I read the motor description on the Traxxas website and it said 48x110mm, but they were referring to the overall length. It's actual length is 85mm, so just another XO1 equivalent motor.

I just got the email. This thing is huge! It will definitely be on my list for acquisition! Has some very cool new features.

I am wondering if it will be classified as 1/5 scale?

Definitely looks promising, I haven't said that about Traxxas since the Revo. Is it just me or does the suspension look like a Traxxas-ized version of the LST's suspension? The knuckles are more modern truggy style I'll give them that but the basic shape of the arms with the big shocks screams LST to me which isn't really a bad thing.

The "self righting" feature sounds cool but if you watch the video of it you start seeing potential problems. You press a button and the radio stabs the throttle, brakes and steering to rock the truck upright. It works but the process is not very kind to the drivetrain with the sudden starting and stopping. Time will tell though, hopefully those diffs have been seriously upgraded, I'd think they were with those 8" tires and that big motor.

Check out the RC Car Action online article about this truck and I don't believe you will have any concerns about the diffs. They look like they are the size of a man's fist.

Thanks for the heads up on RC Car Action. I like that the upper arms are the same all the way around and the front and rear lowers are the same. Will be interesting to see aftermarket servos for this (uses a non-standard mount) and what size the wheel hex's are.

I agree that the shocks look like they might have been spirited away from the LST line.

It's similar in dimension to the 1/5 Losi Desert Buggy XL but probably lighter. Having converted a 1/5 to electric, I have concerns the motor, esc, and servo are a bit too small for a 20lbs truck doing 40mph.

I think I have to have this truck. I love the fact that they finally have a beast of a truck coming out since everything they make is fairly small.

One thing I don't like is the heatsink on the motor.
I don't like heatsink to begin with, but if Traxxas puts it on the motor stock, the motor should have gotten pretty hot while testing?
I also don't like the 24mm plastic hexes?
