another aftershock lst2 e conversion

5 Attachment(s)
So I have been perusing the threads here and there and have noticed no one's tried the new lst2 e conversion. Now not to start a war, the newest one that's not out. Since horizon is nice enough to stock the replacement parts for the new e lsl2 xxl. I have started a build using the replacement parts and my own aftershock I had lying around

Enough about that now into the build

Horizen parts
Battery tray $12
Los241012
Base plate $30
los241010
Side rails $14
los241009
Motor mount $24
Los242002
Had to use horizon 1 day shipping since I have a traveling job, of the any chip shop was about 10 cheaper though

If I can remember how to post pictures I'll have them up soon

Got any more details on this new conversion kit that's not out yet? Link? Just curious to know more about it.

As far as your conversion project I noticed you're missing the center shafts. All the XXL chassis plates use longer center shafts than your LST2 requiring the longer center shafts. Your body is also going to be too short but you can just drill some new holes and live with the wheelbase being off.

Well a slight set back was the fact that the kid who owned this before me seams to have stripped every single bolt on the truck. And to answer your question, haven't gotten the shafts yet. Lack of pics is because the phone takes to good of pictures

LOS348000 99 bucks
Its there new conversion, and it isn't available till November, however all the conversion parts can be bought of horizon

So as of right now, I have another complete xxl2 nitro chassis coming in the mail from the bays chop shop. Bought it so I can check for you all if the new motor mount, and battery tray line up or not, and a direct comparison of the mounting holes between the nitro and electric chassis.

Build news,
The main chassis engine brace, all the bolts are stripped. And the side rails have 2 or more I couldn't get out. The front and rear skid plates are stuck on due to stripped bolts as well. A little elbow grease and a love tap and the chassis side rails broke off. And most of the truck is now dis assembled and awaiting parts. I have parts of the chassis mocked up and awaiting reassembly but they will need a thorough cleaning first. I will set it all together first for a few glam shots as well

I've been curious about this as well. I was actually going to ask you to try fitting the new mount on your old LST2 chassis once you indicated that the parts had come in. That sucks about the screws, time for the 3mm screw mod then! Keep us posted!

So I got more of the chassis apart and cleaned a few parts. However the nice chassis brace will not bolt up due to the off-set mounting of the motor mount, witch leads me to the aftershock chassis and a quick line up shows that the motor mount won't line up, 3 out of 4 bolts work. With a lil dremel work it would fit but I would go the dudes mount for more pinion options.

And due I chasis differences be tween the xxl and aftershock I can't tell one way or the other on the battery tray yet. Have to wait till tomorow for the parts to arrive. And sadly I busted the mount off the aftershock rear skis plate. Now I need a new one

See attchments for line up comparisons so far

I appreciate you going through the effort to show the motor mount hole differences. But it looks like you have only tried putting the XXL2e mount on the LST chassis and the LST brace on the XXL2e chassis. Can you please try laying the chassis on top of each other to make sure those 3 holes that line up are in the same spot on the chassis. Judging from pics the motor mount holes appear to be further outboard on the XXL2e chassis. If that's the case then an older LST mount like TDR's may end up too close to the spur to get a pinion to mesh with the spur.

Sorry to put this on you but since you have both chassis you can provide some insight for anyone contemplating changing the motor mount on their XXL2e.

It'll have to be after work now lol

So to respond to overdrive, here is a pic, there of the four holes match up so I don't know if the dudes mount will line up or not, also the chassis mounts have about a quarter inch diffrence in depths. The new electric chassis mount is closer to the edge, I'll have to bring a micrometer from work and check for sure

Build wide I got the new chassis today and started reassembly on the truck. I'll post picks when I am done

BatonVeck, thanks for the pic and checking on that. I'm sure sooner or later someone will be wanting to try a different mount and motor on their XXL2e and this info could help them. I only have my homemade mount so I can't measure how far away any aftermarket mounts are from the spur gear on an LST. But from what I can see in pics is that the TDR would end up pretty close to the spur if mounted to a XXL2e, you'd definitely have to turn the pinion around so the grub screw is on the end of the motor shaft. As for the mounting holes in the chassis, 3 out of 4 ain't bad and the 4th might be far enough away from the existing ones to drill the chassis for a 4th screw.

Anyway back to your build.
