Default pinion gear on a 1950kv

I know that some motors have a safe range on their motors. My sidewinder sct told me to stay between 16-20. I have an hpi scream 1950kv, wondering what the safe range on a pinion would be for this motor. Gonna be working on gearing for a coupleasure weeks so I just wanna get headed in the right direction so I don't smoke anything. as of right now, I feel that my truck is undergeared. After a hard run, motor is barely warm and the esc stays at ambient temp

IF my pinion and my brothers pinion come today i can tell you how his 24t pinion in on 24/72 gearing and 1900kv but this motor pulls 120a so it might work better. start with like 22t pinion

Gearing is one of the things that determines the load on a motor, load determines temps. The sidewinder gearing range assumes a typical SCT weight, typical SCT transmission ratio, tire size, aero, etc, etc. If that range coincided at all its coincidence.

I know you probably don't want to, but if you took apart your trans and counted the teeth on each gear I could help you with some gearing calculations. I can't find good enough pictures to count the teeth on the single speed conversion.
