Clutch problems??

Please forgive me if this topic has already been started, I read through all of them and couldn't find what I was looking for. I just bought and assembled a Savage SS, I have just started into the break in procedure, and have found that the clutch shoes seem to be too tight against the inside of the bell housing at the end of the engine, therefore no matter how low I adjust the idle or the trim the throttle, the wheels are still turning and the engine will stall if the truck is put on the ground. Is there anyone with any suggestions for what I could do to fix this problem?? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank-you. :)

I had this problem when I rebuilt my clutch assmbelly...and the problem was not the Clutch shoes but the brass washer that goes on the end of the Clutch bell I tokk that of and replaced it with two small washers(it allow the CB to move forward alittle but not to much that the Clutch shoes are only touching the cb half way) i hope this helps

Thanks very much, I will see if that works.

mine was doing something similar to that. i took it to my lhs to have them fix it...they asked me if they wanted them to call me when they found out what was wrong and before they put parts in...they never called me and put 30$ of parts in the clutch :flaming: ...and i still dont know what was wrong  . but its fixed now so whatever.

Just to let everyone know, I brought my engine to the local hobby shop and they looked at it and told me I hadn't installed the clutch springs properly. they fixed it for me for free and the truck is now working great!!
