I got my lst2 today. Overall, I was very impressed with it even though I was only running around the yard. I do have an area with the same dirt that the closest track near by has, and it handled very well on that. I was very impressed. The only thing it has is the race wing, FOC, and white springs all around. I also picked up some crimefighters for when I get to go to the track and race in 2-3 weeks as I am going away and will be busy. It was kinda odd however, I had a glo-plug die on me near the end of the second tank of fuel in the 427, so that caused me to end a little earlier than I wanted to. Never really had that happen, normally ill just find that an engine won't start, than ill go replace the plug. I looked through my racing stuff and I ended up having 5 or 6 novarossi turbo plugs for the on-road but no std plugs. Go figure. And I hate having to get gas out of a tank. I'm impressed and cant wait to get to a track to see how it does and me also.

I just put the forward only gear conversion into the LST2. First off, it also replaces the Hi/Low setting, not just reverse, for everyone who didn't know.

I was curious if anyone could recommend a grease to use on the internal / replacement gears? They seem too dry to run, but I couldn't find what people would recommend.

Thanks!

I use Lucas green grease in my internal gears of the LST transmission.
I use 10K diff fluid in the front and rear axle diffs.

Smile 21 Engines & roto start

I had an LST #1001, sold it because of all the problems and I wanted to race the dam thing. It handle great! Now I am getting the LST2 and I am looking for a .21 motor which supports the roto start. I want to race this thing.

Can you guys give me some suggestions.

By the way have any of you had any success racing the 427 that comes with the LST2?

I have heard that there are some good motors some bad, what's your take.

Thanks for helping me out.

By the way I have a new just broke in NOVO .21 PX if anyone is interested. I purchased it for my truggy, then I sold the truggy. No, roto start for NOVO 21's.

The 427 is a very good racing motor to get you started racing your truck. Alot of guys get in the a main with that motor at my track. It is simple to tune and is quick.

Why do you want a .21, and .28 motor is pretty common in monster trucks. Sorry i don't know much about running a .21 in a monster truck. I just got an LRP .28. thing has a ton of power. The Picco .28 were sugested to me also.

Thanks for the info, and I have been racing my REVO for the last 3 1/2 years after getting rid of my first LST. I will start with the 427, but I am looking for a race engine. You don't see many RTR motors at the bigger races in the NW.

Fuel economy is the main reason I want a 21. When you race in 30+ min main you will need to pit a couple of more times with a 28. If you look at the pros they are racing 21's in their truggy's, for this reason alone, plus the manufactures are just getting into making .28 racing engine.

Thanks, anymore suggestions out there? I need a roto start race 21.

Can you run the lst2 tank at your track?

If yes, get a highend .28 and let r rip.
Plenty of fuel (220 cc) in a lst2 tank and with a 10+ lb truck it is nice to have that extra power on demand.

LRP spec 3, nova or rb are some great racing mills in the .28 size.

Adam Drake (you might have heard of him) runs a 427 in his racing LST2 .

Thanks for the info, and yes we can run our what ever size tank we want, we have mandatory pit stops that you must take. As an example a 30 min main you must complete 4 pitstops. If you can go longer then most, all you have to do is come into the pits, your pit man picks you up for 2 seconds and gets you back out on the track.

Does that LRP's take the roto start?

And yes, if I had Adam Drakes knowledge on motors and modding then I to could take an RTR and make it faster. Since I don't, then I have to depend on the manufactures, and questions like this to try and make a good decision. So don't be such a pooh head when people try to help others. Anyone can snipe, it takes real people to help others.

Maybe your comment comes from lack of experiene in life or on the threads, but if anyone of us had the skills of Drake you would know better. Maybe you should go to his site and read how he helps people instead of, well your comment.

You can put the losi spin start plate on the lrp spec 3. You might have to elongate one hole slightly but it does fit on with no problems.
You are going to want the one with the pull start.
