Default Cinnabun's Savage Flux XL

Well, long overdue build. About a year ago, I sold a Savage Flux XL to RC_Collector.. the day I shipped it, I regretted selling it.. I told myself one day I would build another Flux XL..

It's not too serious of a build, but some nice touches where it needed it…

GPM hardened bevel gears in the diffs
HPI HD top gear
HPI high speed idler
JR DS8711 steering servo (403oz @ 6v)
Proline Trencher 3.8
Castle 1717 out of an XO-1
Alza 1717 mounts
HPI XL chassis (going to be getting TCS plates soon)
Integy rear alum carriers
Shimmed steering bellcranks
HD servo saver spring

Stock gearing (20/44) for now, I want to see how the ESC reacts to this motor.. I know I'm probably touching the limits of the MMM so I don't want to tax it too hard yet. First run is going to be on 4s. I'm not as worried about speed as I am about raw, unadulterated power. I'm thinking the drop in KV is going to make a huge difference, but I hope to have made up for it by adding the high speed idler, and the taller tire.

yada yada.. lets see the pics!!!

Nice build!
I’m doing a similar thing myself, only it is a conversion of Savage XL to brushless. I have the Alza center diff kit, but would also like to try out the Flux transmission. At the Alza site, however, it says that the motor mount for the CC1717 does not fit into standard TVP’s. So, just wondering if you have modified your TVP for it to fit with the motor?

I did have to open up the hole in the TVPs for the 1717 to fit. I also had to shorten the shaft by a few mm's so it wouldn't touch the trans case.

Nice truck. The MMM will be fine, it doesn't break a sweat in my 1717 powered XXL on 6s.

What mount did you use for the 1717?

It has Alza mounts on it.

Also, I'm glad rc collector is enjoying my old savage. One mod I def miss from that one is the tcs tvps. I will be ordering a set for this savage here shortly

Did you not put the XL stub axles on? Seems more narrow than my Flux XL with same tires.

FYI - here's the Alza 1717 mount: http://shop.alza-racing.com/parts/3-...tor-mount.html Only $29 USD shipped.

Also, adding Castle Creations' Cap Pack to your MMM esc makes it handle the power of the 1717 more like a stock XO-1 esc. My buddy called up Castle and they insured MMM esc with cap pack will handle the 1717 in an XO-1 just like the stock Mamba Monster Extreme. Great $25 upgrade if running 1717 in a Savage with MMM.

I have the 1580kv version and Castle told me the MM2 would handle it just fine in the Savage XL. For the 1650kv motor however, they recommend the use of a cap pack. Hence the MM Extreme in the XO-1.

Just curious: What is MMM short for? Mamba Monster Max?? There is no such thing from CC, is there..?

I like the narrower stance, done the same on mine.

For whatever reason MMP = Mamba Max Pro and MMM = Mamba Monster

It doesn't have the extended axles yet. Will be getting them soon.

definitely a must have...you can mount the esc behind the motor IMO is better protected.
