Both of these gasser engines are very different and will react differently. Its not the low that will hurt them as bad as the top end because they won't rev nearly as high as nitro, but the Losi 2 stroke is very unique and somewhat of a hybrid of nitro and gas components. Its too early to tell what that will mean really. Most likely the Losi will whoopass on the Savage but sacrifice engine life and where out quicker due to the higher revving engine design.

But on the bright side, think of all the money you save in fuel. If you save about $25 per gallon on gas versus nitro and assuming it ends up costing about $250 more than the nitro XL version, it pays for itself in about 10 gallons. You actually lose money not driving it!

lol sound logic except for the fact that he was comparing it to the price of other 1/5th scale gassers. I picked up a losi DBXL for under $1000 and while its not perfect i would much rather have it then this for the extra $100. Now if it was $699-$750 it might be a tougher choice

I honestly thought (maybe wishful thinking) that it would come in around $750 give or take a few.
Although just now thinking it's not much more than the Losi if I were able to utilize the $60 off Tower coupon.

It would be $100 off if you were a super saver member, probably $120 if your were a gold member. I'm still going to hold out hope that it will hit at $799 once it is actually available then take off $100 for the coupon and $699 is a price that more people could accept.

for what the price is on tower that's pretty good for a 4wd , 3 speed , gas truck , a savage flux hp would cost you 640.00 , 2 lipo's 11.1v about 80.00 each and then a dual charger for 120.00 ...ur looking at over 900.00 , I would rather have the octane instead where I can get a gallon for a little over 3.00 instead of 31.00 a gal of nitro or have to buy 2 sets of batteries and wait 45-50 mins to charge .

to each their own I just feel with how competitive the 1/5th scale gas market is getting these monster trucks better be pretty impressive to hope to survive.

One 3s pack costing you $80?! Where you shopping at, money bags?

I don't pay more than $40 per pack from SMC for a 4300mAh 40c 3s pack. (lower capacity so it's standard 2s sized)

So, what will be better, the HPI or the Losi?

Well the debate between the Savage and the LST platforms has been raging for years so I can't help you there. The only thing we know for sure is the Savage has the much bigger engine, decide what you will from that. Other than that, we would all just be speculating about 2 trucks that haven't been released.

Oh and by the way, you can win the first Savage Octane from HPI.

Getting back into the hobby again and this one looks like it will finally be a reality this time....and just in time. Seen some guys like Sharkey doing a prerelease conversion on their trucks, when the official truck is out wouldn't mind seeing which parts can interchange and doing the same to one of mine!

Gas isn't all that... You still have batteries that need to be charged... FYI
