Old Sledgehammer
 

Hello Monster Trucks,

I've got an old Traxxas Sledgehammer that I got for slightly more than a song and a dance at a garage sale. And I'm certain that's all it's worth...and it runs.

But of course, being a rookie full of notions, I would like to upgrade the motor and ESC to something water resistant w/BEC.

I'm NOT looking to drop a a ton of money or shove too much power through the drive train. It's old and I know that if I start bashing much at all, there's going to be a lack of spare parts.

Would this be appropriate?

That is going to be pretty slow by today's standards for anything other than a crawler.

My recommendation , pick up one of the hpi firebolt or a traxxas brushed motor and a cheap brushed speed control like a traxxas xl5 on ebay.

Look for the hobbywing waterproof esc, it's about $25 on ebay. Pair that up to an HPI firebolt motor as mentioned above, and it will run pretty good, and be waterproof.
