Default High Voltage Lightning and a Castle 1717

I thought y'all might like to see a project I've been working on for a while that just got running today.

It's a production (gen2) UE High Voltage Lightning, VBS & RacerX combined with a RX8, Castle 1717, a Hitec7955TG and a castle BEC @7.5V

This thing is a beast, it totally rips, yet it's fairly controllable. Then again, I've only got a 13T pinion in there and can probably fit up to a 16. Right now on the 13, we ought to be hitting 55mph on a fresh pack.

Here's some pics and a vid

If I got into maxx's I'd buy one. Never got into saddle packs either but I think that's part of doing a build like that - it's perfectly balanced in every way. Very cool.

Panda, great thing about this design is there's tons of flexibility, like being able to run the battery pack up on it's back and not use saddle packs.

Nice truck. I am running stock transmission with 8 spyder diffs on the 1717.

I had a 31T pinion that was a perfect match on 5s. Stripped that pinion and had to move down to a 28T and now the motor runs hotter and seems to have less torque. Not to mention my tires are over 7" tall. I think you have A LOT of room to gear up but Im not sure how stock transmission compares to your center diff.

How does it compare to the tekin motor?
Very nice setup station! Who makes it?

I'd say it's 30-50% faster than the T8
Setup station is by team integy and I got it online super cheap. It's OK.

Great video too! Loved it. Put bigger meats on my truck to run the feilds and it works great until I hit something or get some air, too much mass XD

Ty for all the help, hope to have my truck back up in the near future.

I went out racing last night in Easley SC. It was a fun night, but had some 'screws falling out' issues. Ugh, hate stuff like that, no one to blame but yourself.

Anyway, in practice I hit the railroad tie head on at full speed and broke the racetruck. So out comes the 1717 Beast and it was a ton of fun. WAY too much power for the racetrack. On the other hand, I was the only one to clear the tabletop/triple all night.

For reference, Eric who runs the other HVL around here running a T8 on 4s laid down a qualifier that was just seconds from TQ and fractions of a second from the fastest lap. He's a better driver than me too. Says his 4s T8 has plenty of power for Easley.

First qualifier, late in the qual I sensed that I was losing a wheel nut. Sure enough a few laps later I lost the front drive from a wheel nut backing off.

Second qualifier I lost a shock bolt midway thru the qual.

A-main, about a minute left in the 10min race I lost that same shock bolt. I think I'm breaking them. Finished the main, last, but there were only 3 trucks that finished, so I still got 3rd.

All in all a good night.

Here's a little vid from practice before commencing of the falling off of fasteners.
