Default MT4-G3 Question

Hi all, I'm looking to get this truck very soon and would like to know what parts to upgrade and to stock?

And for the guys who tried both (lst2/xxl & mt4-g3)..
- Is this truck fun to drive/own as lst2/xxl?
- Did you shim your differential? Can you go hard on throttle without stripping the gears or is it tough as lst2/xxl diff?
- Did you try Trencher/x on both? The truck seemed to bounce a lot on trencher tires than the stockers (forgot whos video was it)

Thanks in advance

I've checked that site too but couldn't find a direct comparison (one who owns both trucks) and thought I could get my answer here instead since more LST guys around here.

Glad to know you like the truck as well.

Anymore input are welcome

Haven't tried the losi. As far as the mt4 I think it will be harder to find a better tires for bashing than the stock (ugly as it is) mt4 tire. Didn't shim diff, it came shimmed pretty good. Most of the aluminum on the truck is cast junk, but when you bend it you can just put it in a vice and bend it straight. The hinge pins are also not good, I run hpi pins with no mods to them and have no issues. The losi cog looks higher, I like lower cog but alot of people don't with the monster trucks.

Also aren't the losi's nitro? That makes a direct comparison a little more difficult, but either one would be a blast to drive

I have two nitro LST2's and the MT4 G3.

Drivetrains are both strong and great. Equal I would say..

Both IMO need a chassis brace(good luck finding the New Era one for a Losi...)

For electric I'd give it to the MT4.. The Losis are heavy, more complicated(I don't like the conversion hassle), and parts are an open question now that the XXL is cancelled. In the US though I guess TT parts aren't as widespread as here in Europe. The MT4 will handle, wheelie, and possibly jump better, and be easier to work on. Single servo too.

I love my nitro LST2's, but the MT4 G3 is THE 8th scale electric basher IMO. Affordable, simple, tough, truggy handling, etc. No reason to get any other E-MT afaic.

(Of course between the two I'd take the LST2, since it has a real engine... . )

Got the HPI pins link?

Have you had any issue with your stock front shock tower brace? Did you install chassis brace?

Oops! Completely forgot the Losi LST is a nitro truck since most of the guys with LST are on BL setup now

What battery config do you guys run on your MT4-G3, 4S, 5S or 6S? 1P or 2P?

Can you fit 5S1P in there? Or does it require some modifications on the battery tray?

Glad to know its drivetrain is as tough as LST's.

Exactly what's intriguing me, the weight difference. I've noticed guys with MT4-G3 can bash harder without breaking stuff than guys with LST2/XXL, in my observation.

I run 4s 1p and 6s 1p in my mt4. They fit just fine, but I didn't care for the overtray the truck came with so I installed tekno battery straps and the batteries I run fit perfect and don't move at all.

I do run a chassis brace, and I did bend front shock tower already. I just put my shock tower in a little vise and straightened it and haven't had any problems, but I am having some other ones made as I don't like the cast aluminum at all.

For the pins I have been running hpi/ hot bodies 67417 4mm x 68mm

They should share diff gears I believe. What's the part number your local shop is selling?

Got my MT4-G3 today and installed 7955TG then got issue (as if the servo is trying to center its gear endlessly)

Anyone had any success using hitec servo with MT4-G3 tx/rx (ace rc cougar)?
