need help from someone with a scale!

Three dimes
Two nickles
1 penny

I need to know how much that weighs and if you think its too much weight needed to balance 1 wheel. I am running 7" tall tires so I expect it to take a little more weight but since this my first attempt I'm not really sure about anything. Seems hard to find the perfect balance too.

You should probably save the .41c per wheel and put it towards a wheel balancer (preferably Losi) because pocket change are not the "perfect weights" for a perfect balance. That might be the reason your not getting that perfect balance, you need putty to add and remove;)

Putty is essential, a dedicated balancer really helps. A free and quick alternative is to remove the cvd or dog bone leaving just the stub axle in the knuckle so it spins freely. Then position the vehicle so the tire is straight and level. You now have a makeshift balancer.

Putty is really needed to keep the added weight from moving. If the weight moves you're not accomplishing anything. You can add more weight than just the putty, I had to add some bb's to some really out of whack Big Joes. Sometimes you will need to add weight in more than one place and thats ok as long as youre not adding weight 180 degrees from where you already added it. If you're ever unsure just remove the putty and start over.

Yea, the truck is still an unfinished kit. Its about time to button it all up. Thread lock, Tony's screw kit, parts cleaner, pipe cleaners and balance wheels. I think its the spur making noise, its had a few pinions move themselves out of mesh but still looks to be okay.

Here are some pics of my redneck tire balancer!

Mine is a little fancier and a lot more portable but same premise. LST1 knuckle and axle mounted to some 1/2" EMT I welded into a stand, with an old Ofna 17mm hex. All leftovers and will accommodate the biggest tires you can find.

No reason you can't do this on the vehicle if you square up and level the axle though.

I tried the putty. I use automotive LEAD sticky weights and put tape over then, finally.
I built a balancer out of wood and some strong magnets.
Copied the idea from a prop balancer.
