I like the looks of the Rival. So there is not a set date for release?

I do like that RIVAL truck , I had an MGT a while back and I used to beat the snot outta that truck and it rarely ever broke . The RIVAL is a factory converted MGT and has what I consider to be the strongest chassis to come in a monster truck . And there was/is an aftermarket for hop up parts , something that the MTA4 G3 doesn't have at all .

Hobbywing 150amp esc with a Leopard 4082 or 4092 motor. Kershaw designs has the Hobbywing for $99, 4082 for $89, 4092 for $109. Run them on 6s and that should qualify as silly fast in most people's books.

But that's still a good chunk of the cost of a MT4 G3, and that's why they're so popular. Definitely worth considering as a way to try out 1/8 electric especially if you want a truggy. I'm a little spoiled though and prefer something more like a 8ight-t 2.0 and I still regret selling the one I converted. But it was either the XXL or the 8ight-t 2.0 that had to go and I love my monsters and their quirks a little more.

Look into it, I know, it ain't cheap, $550, keep the XXL all nitro, nuff said.
Go electric, but another truck.
Jury's out on the Rival. Seems like an oooold platform compered to mt4 g3. Not sure why AE/TT released the Rival exactly. Guess they're selling....

Jury's out on the Rival.
If not the Rival then, what truck would be just as good?
The MT4 G3 then?

The Rival will be good IMO - it's an MGT/MTA4...

The MT4 G3 is nearly as old - it's an ST-1.

IMO, the MT4 is the better package - simpler layout, lighter, better handling, great jumper.. It can do anything any of the MT's can do, and some things better..

As I've pointed out before though, it has a few weak points, some of which can be easily remedied- like the hinge-pins(Hot Bodies and Axial replacement parts), two of which - inadequate chassis bracing and weak shock towers - not so much. But there are fixes out there for those too. Still, despite those two issues, it's an unbeatable value for money.

What value ? Its 587.00 at Tower now so that puts it just under all the other MT's prices and you are getting 8-9 year old tech and a re badged Hobbywing system and that new radio is crappier than the one that used to come with it . Value ? Not anymore !

Last year it might have been a good value , but now IMO its too expensive for what you are getting .
