SHARING: HPI BULLET ST 3.0 Electric Conversion

Hi Guys,

I am creating a new project to convert my HPI Bullet ST 3.0 to Electric. Below is what I am thinking to get for the conversion

Battery Tray #101828
Motor Mount #101317
ESC Plate # 101662

Chasiss will be drilled to match the layout
Combo will be spared MMM + Hobbyking Turnigy trackstar 2650kv and 2S/3S lipo

Please let me know what you guys think...

The car will be used mostly for racing and a little bashing.
Thanks,

Sounds like you have a plan and it should work. Strip the nitro stuff, mount the servo on the opposite side, switch the bellcranks and start drilling. Little tip, use magic marker or a little dab of paint around the mounting points of the new battery box, servo mounts, etc so when you place them on the chassis the holes are marked for you.

The motor and esc is a little overkill for the truck, should run super cool. Just don't give into temptation and try putting 4s through it!

So your gonna run a mamba monster esc or a mamba max pro

Hi Overdriven, thanks for the input. Actually I do differently with the original Bullet Flux. My servo is still on the left side, I just cut the servo tray since it only needs 1 servo. I put the motor mount on the left as well so my motor is on the left side and the ESC is on the opposite site. Currently I am running my motor and esc combo from my wr8 flux. I will post the pic soon.

Update on 22 Jan 2013

I was just putting in RC8 mid differential spur gear by modifying the motor mount to make the hole bigger because of the bearing of the RC8 diff is 8x16x5 compared to bullet 10x15x3 but everything looks good now.

The pic in the previous post is still using the original slipper spur. Btw if you can see from the picture, I just broke my rear body post, luckily my LHS is carrying it.

The Bullet now is running more stable and seems like more stable for racing.

I notice that using RC8 middle spur gear with differential, I need to find the dogbone with bigger head but so far it can run pretty well in high speed.

Update 29 January 2013

Finally the battery tray is here, but I have a problem mounting it on the right side because of the size of the battery tray with the esc mount plate which comes with it. All my servo and motor are on the left side (opposite with the original Bullet flux) and I dont want to change that. So what I did is to open the battery tray cover and mount it upside down so I get the same mounting as if I mount it on the left side. I drill 3 holes so that the pin holder from the battery tray can push through and I use the battery pin to hold it from the bottom part of the chassis.

The battery tray is put upside down. Drill couple of holes in the middle of battery tray's body so that the battery strap can go in and out.

I forget to mention that I put the Turnigy Trackstar 2650kv with Flux vapor ESC from the WR8 flux since I am still waiting for my MMM to be available with 3S Lipo ready to go. ( Sorry for the picture since it is abit blury)

The motor is quite good and deliver quite a lot of power using my Flux Vapor, currently it is not too much that is why I can still gear it with 15T Pinion. I would like to see the power becomes using the MMM. I am using 3S Lipo for this truck, currently my problem is with the tires when I hit throttle in hi-speed since it has that balloon effect. I think I need to change the front tires with the one from Proline.

I will try to upload movie when I run in some other time. The bottom line is, I am happy to run this truck electric rather than nitro, with nitro I can not get it wheelie ;)

Need Help from HPI Bullet Owner

Now I have a steering problem since one of my steering assembly, the right one is quiet loose. I am thinking of buying the steering for MT2 http://www.ebay.ph/i...8#ht_1432wt_906 will it fit with some mod?

Any recommended good monster truck tires that fit the Bullet MT rim #101309 3.2" ?
