F4.6 vs. K4.6
Hey I just bought a HPI 4.6 engine and I am putting it into a Savage 25 chassis.... I was wondering how you can tell the difference between the F series and the K series?
|
F= natural color block
k= black block |
i believe arrigoni003 has the info backwards
k= natural color block (also has a One peice cooling head, cooling head button is integrated to the head itself ) purple/silver cooling head F= black block (has a Two peice cooling head meaning the cooling head button can be separated from the actual head) all purple cooling head hope it helps if not post a pic |
Hmm, now that i look, i see different color blocks of each engine....
Regardless, i think the F has a 2 needle carb, and the K is a 3 needle |
mine is a big block silver cooling head and I am able to take the cooling head off of the motor itself.... i do not have a picture of the motor by itself.... only inside the truck....

I think Cummins is right. The K4.6 has a 3-needle carb, the F4.6 a 2-needle carb.
|
is it possible that it could be the k5.9??? because those are the only ones I have seen with my cooling head..
|
+1 on cummins that's probably one thing I did forget te k engine has a mid needle adjustment on the side.
|
The k5.9 has the silver cooling head.
|
The K4.6 H.O has a black block too.

The easiest way to tell is that the cooling heads have different designs in them. The F4.6 has a completely round cooling head. the K4.6 have machine cuts in the cooling head.

this is exactly what my engine looks like when its in the truck... The cooling head I think is a little lighter than that color.. any ideas??

k5.9

Okay I have that engine in a savage 25 chassis with only a 2 speed transmission... is that going to screw up my tranny??

f4.6 on a savage 25
Does anyone know if a f4.6 will fit on a savage 25 without changing anything?
