Default Motor Suggestions For Twin Detonator?

Guys, I just scored a NIB Twin Detonator on eBay for $88 shipped. I didn't realize it came with a MSC. I was going to set it up with the stock stuff but now that I have to add an ESC it will be an EVX 2 that I have a spare laying around. Now it is my understanding that I will need a standard rotation and a reverse rotation motor so what is out there that is cheap and will make good power and comes with a reverse rotation option or with 0 timing so the rotation doesn't matter?

The erevo brushed motors will work. It has to be the erevo motors. 1 goes 1 way and the other 1 goes the other way.

I was trying to find info on the erevo motors and from the ones I see replacement motors for sale I do not see any listed as reverse rotation, does this mean you just reverse the polarity on one of the motors? I assume then that they both spin the same speed whether in a forward or reverse rotation? I also could not find how many turns they are and they are listed as 550 can size so I do not know if they will fit the Twin Detonator transmissions.

My first truck was a wild dagger same thing as the TD and blackfoot. I ran stock tamiya 27T cans and it was plenty for that chassis and gearboxes. All you have to do for the reverse rotation is reverse the leads on the motors. If you want faster motors you will have to address the servo flex issue and something to beef up those gearboxes. There is a seller on ebay who has a lot of hopups I believe his name is rcdamper. Also the most support for this truck is on rcmt.

LOL yeah for 88 bucks can you go wrong? I'll have to check out RCMT, I've never heard of that, guessing it is another forum? Thanks for the info.

Here are the titan motors you need:

Reverse rotation:

Standard rotation:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXF54&P=V

Im pretty sure they will fit just fine. Worst case scenario, you will just need to remove the flux rings to gain some clearance. They just pop off with a screwdriver and wont make much difference at all in performance.

And yes. RCMT.net has lots of info on these trucks in their forums.

Thanks Cummins Driver, I must have been putting the terms into Google wrong because I never got the reverse rotation motors to pop up and didn't think to search Tower. I'll check out RCMT later today as I have a lot of monster trucks...

No problem. Just remember those motors wont be real fast on a single 6 cell. Id say it will rock on 14.4-16.8v though

cummins pretty much covered all your bases. definitely check out out this ebay seller, pretty decent shipping speed for a hong kong seller as well as the largest TD hopup seller I could find.
