All electric motors are waterproof(except maybe sensored brushless?), so no worries on the motors. With the servo, I would either use a traxxas waterproof unit or smear some silicone type sealant around all the seams of a non waterproof servo as well as putting some grease around the output shaft to keep water out. And as for the receiver, I would find a traxxas waterproof receiver box from a stampede, mini revo, or any of their waterproof models and mount it on the truck to keep your receiver good and dry;)

I've already got all the electronics...maybe do the balloon thing with the receiver. Plug everything into the RX then put it in a rubber balloon and seal it off with some zip ties? I like the idea for the servo. I wasn't sure if all motors were waterproof or not. Thanks!

Most any receiver(that isnt real large) should fit in a traxxas RX box if you wanted to do that. However, a balloon will work just fine as well. Electronics arent usually real hard to waterproof from snow. It gets harder when people start trying to use them as a submarine though:D

Where do I find this box, what vehicle would it be from? Any Traxxas?

Ebay would be the cheapest. Something like this. Its waterproof and fairly compact. Unless you have a pretty big receiver, it should fit.

A walmart sack with a small hole through the top for your antenna will keep it pretty dry and leave enough room for both hands:cool:

That looks perfect! Thanks! I am running a Flysky GT3B which has (to my old school ways) a teeny tiny RX! Also my local hobby shop is a 40 minute drive and a Hobby Town USA chain so I feel little loyalty to them but I do support them when I have other reasons to go into town. No mom and pop outfits close by.

Has anybody come up with any ideas for protecting air filters on nitros? I've run my losi xxx-nt in the winter plenty of times without issue, but I've never thought about melting snow on a filter getting into the motor.

When I had my Fluz HP I would wrap the center chassis and tvps with ceran wrap. If I did it right it would perfectly seal the chassis with all of the electronics off, and just leave the front and rear bulkhead assembly exposed to the snow, which was super easy to clean off with a compressor. The chassis was dry as a bone every time I went out. Only problem was the esc got a little hot in there, but all it needed was to be geared down a little. That thing was a snow monster. Just had to go easy on the throttle in the deep stuff.

Personally, I think it would be REALLY fun to get a brushless one of these:
