mamba monster temp question

i was wondering if i can get some input the mamba monster. i call the tech and asks a few questions about the cooling fan. the question was at what temp does the fan come on and they said 150f and the esc heat cut of was 220f. now i was looking for some real world info i notice my fan come on within a minute or so meaning it hitting 150 rather quickly never cut off on me though. could i find out how soon does there fan come on running 6 cell lipo 2200kv on other users on the mamba monster

most may say gear down to control heat . just a little more info im already geared down low

thanks

150 that quick would make me question my temp gauge. Have you gotten another temp guage's opinion?

did you read the whole post i know it is getting to 150 quickly because the fan come on at 150 according to castle techs

I run 6S 40C packs through mine on my LST and my fan used to come on rather frequently until I switched to the CCBEC and my fan very seldom comes on now, sometimes not at all throughout an entire pack. A lot of my heat problems were from my steering servos overtaxing the internal BEC which apparently generates a good bit of heat.

Of course I read the whole post. The only reason I posted what I did was because there might be something else wrong with the ESC (or something else like binding in the drive train) for it to kick the fan on so early. What if it's not at 150 degrees? Have you taken temps yourself?

I use a MMM 2200Kv system on 6s and my ESC temps rarely get hot enough for the fan to come on. I had my car geared pretty low and the fan would come on after a few minutes. I'd say you might be geared too low, as opposed to being geared too high. I was running 16/38-40 (can't remember which) and switched to 16/36 and the fan doesn't come on anymore after a good 15-25 minute bashing session at the local BMX track.

I killed a mmm once and castle replaced it for me:cool: the replacement I got I noticed the fan came on at lower temps than than before. So I don't think it is strictly 150f but it seems yours is coming on very soon.

What car, speed and weight are you using?

GreenMachines 07-03-2011 09:11 AM

there was a program up date for most of their speedos with that problem, I'm not sure if the Monster is included. what version softwear do you have programed?
a couple of the tech guys at Castle, you have to ask them more questions to get the right answers.

I always ask for Joe at castle, he doesn't seem to mind spending extra time with a customer on the phone

Op you never mentioned what batteries you're using.

Mine kicks on from time to time but usually only runs for 30sec-1min. Of course its 105 here in TX currently so I'm kind of discounting it.

Running 4s 5000mah/2200kv/mmm/hyper 7 conversion

ebailey95 07-15-2011 02:15 PM
